Office of the District Attorney: Asset Forfeiture Application Program
This is a press release from the County of Humboldt:
Local programs designed to combat drug abuse and divert gang activity in Humboldt County, particularly for high-risk elementary and secondary school age students, have a new opportunity to apply for funds, largely due to the diligent efforts of the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF). With over 70 investigations per year, often involving large scale, complex illicit narcotics traffickers, and organizations, the HCDTF efforts can lead to removal of illegal profits from those engaged in illicit drug sales, manufacture, and distribution. Illegal profits subject to civil asset forfeiture proceedings are not eligible for distribution under state law until specific legal findings and orders of the court are made. Ultimately, 15% of the distributed asset forfeiture funds lawfully removed from the hands of illicit drug traffickers is dedicated to fund continuation or development of positive intervention community programs. Applications for awards from these funds are now being accepted through December 31.
On behalf of all members of the Humboldt County Drug Task Force Executive Board, District Attorney Stacey Eads invites those interested in developing or continuing a community program to combat drug abuse in our community to please visit the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office Programs and Outreach website page at: https://humboldtgov.org/3136/Programs-and-Outreach to learn more and apply.

How about prosecuting drug crimes? How about prosecuting vandalism, theft, burglary and other crimes often committed by drug abusers and keeping these criminals locked up? As far as these funds go, start using them to do just that. By the way Ms Eads, when will you start these types of prosecutions in your office? Apparently they aren’t important, because the case I was promised would be prosecuted was not, even though it was a slam dunk because I provided video of the crime. I guess, like Honsal, you are only interested in working cases that bring publicity to you. It’s time to do your job for us commoners for a change. I’m certainly glad I didn’t give you my vote. Unfortunately enough did to put you in office.
Due to props 47 and the failure of 20. Heck… 25 million Los Angelios and San Franciscans can’t be wrong !
