I wouldn’t trust EPD’s homicide investigation aptitude if my life depended on it.

What homicide investigation? If the death was ruled accidental by the coroner there won’t be any homicide investigation.

I totally agree with you there it never comes out honest or correct. I don’t understand how we can have so many dirty people working for that office it’s actually pretty scary. My feelings because of the cover up on my Husband Jamie Eacret and my son Raymond Eacret lies have proven them lies.

It’s very sad but I’m glad it wasn’t a violent end. 🙁

Accidental death does not necessarily imply non violent (depending on your definition of non violent). Was she killed accidentally during the process of collecting the recycling material?

By violence I mean someone brutally killed her and stuffed her in a bin not a horrible and fatal accident.

Biden’s Fentanyl Flood in each year is killing twice the Americans lost in the entire Vietnam w war. This could easily be one, more likely than any alternative

ON THAT NOTE, it would be great to be able to click a button on comments that indicated off subject and a button for cruel mean comments so that they could be literally side tracked off the main comment thread that has to do with the subject of the article. people could choose to veer off and discuss somewhere else off track

One time while recycling cans at the old Trinidad rest stop recycle bins at 8 in the morning, I was startled to see some old guy, 70ish, crawl out from under the cans and plastic, exit the other side, and hop in a badly parked nice Mercedes. He drove off down Patrick’s Point Drive. More than likely the Dude got blasted the night before, thought he was home, crawled in the
Bin, slept it off, and was awoken by me chucking recycling on top of him without knowing it. He must have smelled horribly, I would have burned those clothes immediately upon arrival at home.

A transient in Arcata was sleeping ( or passed out) in a large, rolling dumpster when the trash truck hooked it, flipped it over the cab and dumped him into the trash compartment. Luckily the driver heard him screaming before he hit the compactor. He survived with a banged up neck and head. I can easily understand how someone could be killed trying to stay out of the cold rain and wind.

Back in the 70’s I used to load box cars at Halvorsen on the Bay with a fork lift. I always checked the cars before loading. Had to wake many a soul before loading.

Maybe because of the un housed population it would be nice to put notices on bins of pick up times aka do t sleep here Tuesday night because we will dump and crush you to death Wednesday morning?! Simple yet may save the next green from accidentally being killed.

RIP Jestine… I pray you went peacefully and not painfully … You told me just a few weeks ago that God was calling to take you home and that you were ready… I wished you could have taken your last breath in a better , warmer, place because you didn’t deserve to rest in peace amongst trash… She was a beautiful soul and I will definitely miss that”Nanny” laugh ….My condolences to her family… I spent a few nights with her in a warm shelter so know she had a few good night’s rest(and at least one GREAT breakfast) before she passed.

On a side note:
When you see someone outside on a cold night… Try to help them out any way you can…even the smallest contribution could help save their life…bring them some extra blankets you may have…give them something hot to drink or eat…give them some dry socks/other clothing, a warm jacket, a beanie, gloves, hand warmers… something or somewhere out of the rain and wind… take them to a shelter nearby or if you have the means a bed and a shower…

We can’t do something for EVERYBODY we see EVERY TIME…but if many more of us did it more often imagine the impact it could have for us all in a better direction!

The drivers absolutely need to be checking these dumpsters before dumping.

Sarah – it is a tragedy that Jestine died while sleeping in a dumpster, but it is absolutely ridiculous to start making the driver’s responsibility to ck for people in dumpsters.

People need to take personal accountability for their own safety.

Per a comment in the thread, Jestine has family, & yet she chose to live outdoors & to sleep in a dumpster.

Per another comment here, Jestine mentioned the “Lord was calling & she was ready”. Perhaps Jestine purposely chose to die in that dumpster???

Lastly, aren’t dumpsters supposed to be locked by the businesses using them? Any Attorney’s on this thread?
