Letter Writer Urges Mendocino County Residents to Vote Trent James for Sheriff

As many of your readers may already know, there is now a second candidate, Trent James, running for Sheriff of Mendocino County in the 2022 election against the current appointed Sheriff Matt Kendall. For the first time in many years the people of Mendocino have a choice for their Sheriff; not just one name on the ballot, running uncontested.
Trent is well known to many in the community, not only for his service as a Mendocino Adult Probation Officer but also for his six years as a Mendocino Sheriff Deputy and Sergeant with the Willits Police Department. Trent has served the county of Mendocino, particularly the areas of Covelo and Willits, with honor, integrity and honesty.
Late last year Trent started a YouTube channel, Confessions of an Ex Cop, in an attempt to expose serious allegations of misconduct and wrongdoing involving members of the command staff at the Mendocino Sheriff’s Office. The channel quickly gained a wave of attention and followers. His factual videos gave confirmation about what many already knew or had at least heard the rumors. His videos not only exposed corrupt high-ranking law enforcement officers but also forced action that improved the community of Mendocino.
Trent James is for the people of Mendocino. If elected Sheriff, I am confident that Trent will not only continue to clean up the long-running “Good ‘Ol Boy” systemic corruption but also improve the Sheriff’s Office service to the community by addressing important issues like deputy recruitment and retention, improve deputy training, implement programs to improve community-police relations, but most importantly provide transparency. It’s time for a change Mendocino County! Vote for Trent James as Sheriff this 2022 election.

part of me knows his integrity is already compromised because if he knew about all this corruption but never acted he was complicit
Complicit? Really? How about cautious and erring on the side of safety for his family? Put yourself in his shoes and imagine how easy it would have been for these corrupt individuals to shoot him on a call and blame a criminal because he blew the whistle. More fact than fiction if you could only open your mind. The point is that he blew the whistle because he cares about the community.
If Zeke Flatten is for him, I’m opposed…
Let crooks and touts, former school crossing guards and total liars promote each other, somewhere else…
Matt Kendall is the Sheriff with no clothes, and Mendo is a complete shithole, but if you elect someone like this, things will continue to go downhill…

Zeke Flatten. Right. He’s a “law and order” man…
Last I knew, the Marines protect your liberties and freedom. Just because you have some personal beef with Zeke or maybe you are one of the afformentioned deputies or officers doesn’t mean that Trent is a bad candidate. He is for justice and community and what is morally and ethically right.
I should add that Trent is running as a registered write-in candidate on the ballot.
Why not run “Bozo the Clown”, or just “Nobody”?
Why take a stand at all…?
Mr Flatten has no interest here, but running and supporting your friends, is no different at all from the former Sheriff “appointing” the next one.
Nepotism is nepotism, and Mr Flatten studies self promotion above all else, which we call narcissism…
It is my opinion that Mr Flatten is barely familiar with anything true at all, so, I wouldn’t endorse his “endorsement” and I have to question it’s value, right along with his motives…
Let you know a little secret permanently on monitoring. Unless you’re a registered candidate the write-in vote will not count nor be recorded. So go ahead and throw your vote away writing Bozo the Clown or Nobody. Diversity and change is a good thing.

What a bunch of liberal bullshit. How about putting people in jail and keeping them there.
I totally agree with you about putting people in jail and prison, and keeping them there when they violate the law. Unfortunately, that is not the job of the Sheriff’s Office as much as most people think. This is mostly up to the District Attorney’s Office.
You are wrong about one thing, I am far from liberal and these issues mentioned are not liberal or conservative bullshit, they are necessary administrative components of running a law enforcement agency that is truly “serving the people”.
Is it truly a coincidence so many Leo or Cal Fire kids grow up to commit crimes and violence? The Levi kid. Comer’s boy. Bartolomei sons’ “suicide” to name a few. Kids learn what they see. One day I was near a local city park where they train the sheriff’s dogs. Many small children and parents were at the playground across the fence. Sheriffs laughingly released the dog to take the guy down in the padded suit. In full view of a packed park. The toddlers lost it. Crying, screaming. Who in their exteme intelligence and wisdom, not to mention right mind puts a place like that next to a toddler park? The dog handlers laughing as a local community was traumatized forced to watch something like that. One can only imagine what goes on in their homes and families if that’s what they do in public. Mike Globe officer of the year arrested once again.
Transparency is something to fight for. People behind a lot of these hidden politics and agendas oppose transparency on any and every level. It’s often times entirely exhausting to fight the crooks because they back each other up so much. You can’t bust through the wall of their deception. If you do or you try to you you meet strong opposition. The citizens didn’t have a choice yet. Kendall he was appointed by his predecessor. It’s time for the people to have a choice because the issues facing our community require action not lip service. Stand up and vote. It’s time for a breath, a breath of fresh air. Mr James you have my vote.
I will never vote for a person with neck tats.

Trent James was “2018 Deputy of the Year” in Mendocino County. For all Trent’s professional life, he has been fighting public corruption, fighting dirty cops who shake down cannabis farmers, fighting cover-ups. He is the embodiment of the “peaceful warrior”. He is a person of impeccable integrity.
He decided to do a video about the “facts” of the Amanda Carley case and she is a complete liar and manipulator, with a BRADY issue, and he got the information wrong while supporting her! If that’s how he conducts his “investigations of uncovering the truth” then that’s what we will get; lies and story times. He is just that, a good repeater of things he’s heard. Nothing exciting to see here! #kendallfortruth
Oooh your mad. Did the case involve you? The are many lawsuits in Mendocino County involving 100% Brady issues that go nowhere. So pulling The Brady card it’s a pretty mute point in Mendocino County. Obviously somebody had to believe her or else the charges wouldn’t be pending. Victim shaming is a real thing. Rarely do criminals and people that police come into contact for crimes have squeaky clean backgrounds. Yet, someone’s background does not always determine their destiny.

I have confirmed that Bailey Isaiah Comer, age 22, the son of MCSO SWAT commander LT JD Comer, has been charged with a felony violation of Penal Code section 311.11(a), not a misdemeanor.
The prosecutor handling the case is Assistant DA Dale P. Trigg. Bailey Comer’s defense attorney is Chris Andrian out of Santa Rosa. He is the same high-priced lawyer hired by disgraced former UPD sergeant Kevin Murray charged with rape, forcible oral copulation, felony crimes under the color of authority, and being under the influence of meth.
The next court date for Bailey Comer is June 6, 2022, at 9 o’clock in the morning in Judge Faulder’s Ukiah courtroom for entry of plea.
Don’t expect any press release coming out of the MCSO about this case. The MCSO protects its own. Keep in mind, it took 2.5 years to bring this case. And during that time, JD Comer was promoted.

I’m all in for Trent James. Our “system” designed by our founding fore boys stated that our system must periodically wipe the governing slate clean and start fresh with new leaders in order for things to effectively work for the people.
THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT REEKS OF OLD STAGNATION IN MOST AREAS. It’s all about the same issues and solutions that never go anywhere. The Courts are all overloaded with bogus calendars that take months or years to decide upon for something that should take minutes to handle. So much of it is meaningless, AND NOBODY SEEMS FOCUSED ON ANYTHING THAT I THINK WILL LEAD TO A BETTER FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH.
Let’s face it. We need fresh people with honest intentions and ideas, Look at the price of gasoline and groceries. How will we all survive?? And the storm is just brewing.
Wipe the slate clean and bring on the people that want to make things better. Slow down this corruption that rules in our government. If we don’t do this, our future as “we the people” will not stand a chance of building any sort of perfect union as we once dreamed. And shame on anyone that thinks things are “looking good” presently.
Open your eyes, and pass it on. THINGS NEED TO DRASTICALLY CHANGE, AND FROM WHAT i AM HEARING, IT’S CLEAR THAT TRENT DOES NOT LIKE WHAT HE SEES IN OUR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. He was there, he is speaking honestly about what he witnessed. And it is pretty sickening one must admit. PEOPLE WITH STABILITY ISSUES SHOULD NOT BE CALLING ANY OF THE SHOTS OR POLICE OUR CITIZENS
TRENT WANTS TO TRY A DIFFERENT APPROACH. He is obviously brave as hell, as I can’t see coming forward was an easy thing to do. So what if it took a minute. It was a minute sooner than anyone else. BRAVO! Being aware is the first step to making necessary changes. GO TRENT JAMES! Show em what your working with.
