‘Arcata Plaza Planter and Steps Removal Project’ Begins on Tuesday

This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

The City of Arcata will begin work to remove the planter and granite steps located at the center of the Arcata Plaza on Tuesday, August 17.

The Arcata City Council has prioritized removing the planter and steps to create an open, flexible space for community gatherings and special events. This action also supports the recommendations of the

Plaza Improvement Task Force which noted that removing the center planter would foster greater flexibility for the space and enhance the sightline through the Plaza. Work to remove the planter material and granite steps is anticipated to take place on Tuesday, August 17 through Wednesday, August 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional construction occurring in September.

During periods of work, access to the inner center of the Plaza will be limited to ensure public safety. On days of scheduled work, community members are asked to follow all directions and traffic control devices within the project area.

For more information, please contact the Environmental Services Department at (707) 822-8184. For more updates on construction progress and project plans, please visit cityofarcata.org.

This Tacky Task Force shit really turned habitual with the anti-skateboarding step removal.

The blooming rampart buzzkill couldn’t spare the Ghoul with the Scroll from overeager internet searchers on the constant prowl for anything/everything to depose.

Who the fuck talks about “enhanc(ing) the sightline,” after approving all the surrounding new high-rises that block the shit out of the ancient view?

What would really make this place more pleasant, is for you to go home to the pathetic pit you’re from, and tell THEM how to do shit.

Just remember they could be using our tax dollars to treat and house all of the homeless people who are on drugs in Arcata but instead they decide to use hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars for this garbage.

How about no? Let’s not force taxpayers who are really struggling to cough up more money for your dopey fantasy. If you’re homeless and trying to make it there are plenty of services to help you. If you’re a bum, you hang out on the plaza bumming change, hoping that the world will pay for your worthless . Let’s instead make unnamed gravestones with the granite and put them in the grass as a point to all the Arcata ne’er do wells…

They should put a deep pit in the middle of the Plaza, so we can walk up to it, kick one of the crusty bums down the hole, yelling ‘this is Sparta’!

Divided between city council or to someone with deep pockets in the name of some benefit or charity. Unless you know someone, you’re not getting it. Wherever it goes, it won’t be somewhere we all can enjoy it.
