Images From SWAT Operation in Eureka

Last night about 9, Eureka Police were acting on a tip from a concerned citizen when they converged on a apartment in the 2100 block of Spring Street.

According to Brittany Powell, spokesperson for the EPD, two men were arrested last night for burglary during the operation.  She told us, “A caller had reported seeing two males force entry into an apartment.  The residents were not home at the time.  Both suspects were in possession of firearms at the time they were detained.”*

Two men were taken into custody by the Eureka Police Department about 9:11 p.m.–Tyler Lemmons (photo from 2017 below) and Thomas Cookman (photo not yet available).

Below are a series of images our reporter took over the course of about four hours that shows officers working in the fog and the cold.

HCSO does not have automatic rifles. Those are semiautomatic patrol rifles that fire one round with each pull of the trigger. Don’t comment on things you don’t know about. Also: go take an English class.

Why such a big response for a citizen reporting a break in? Is this normal these days or was there something special about this event?

The suspects were armed. Who knows what their intentions were?

Maybe law enforcement had relevant information about the incident and involved people that was not released.

Why are our first responders dressed as if they are invading a country? Who else doesn’t feel like have the military marching around the streets of America ?

There’s actually a multitude of reasons they wear that gear but whatever. I think your concerns are misplaced.

Agree with you HotMama, seems like a large overreaction for what was clearly a burglary attempt. Unnecessary drama from the Sheriff’s department. Thank the military industrial complex for this one. Ugh.

Why do they stop here? This unit should be rolling around on the streets 24/7 rounding up the heroin, meth, etc dealers until they’re all gone or too scared to live and sell there poisons here anymore.

You must not know how the drug culture works..first the cartels accumulate cast amounts of money from the US and other countries then a group of people are forced or volunteer making drugs where it ships to certain locals that then get distributed to the corner dealers that sell it to the junkies. It is not the junkies who need to be arrested, they need detox and recovery centers it’s the ones higher up.. cartels, government and big companies a oh and the military that need to be stoped…if you didn’t know now you do

Oh dear! The SWAT team was dressed in clothing that allows for better range of motion so they can do their jobs. On no! The evil blue man was wearing gear that allows them to carry their equipment where it’s ready to reach AND provides protection from those who might try to harm them. What ever shall we do?! How dare they use these things that make their job easier and safer!

All you people who think the response to a report of two or possibly more armed people committing a felony in a residence should volunteer to go in unarmed and unprotected. Maybe the criminals will just give up if you give them a hug.

That kid in the picture seriously looks like he missed out on a few thousand hugs he should have received as a child. Hugs help more than guns IMO.

Well they didn’t accidentally burn down the apartment during their raid so I guess all ended well?

How were two people detained if we only have information about one and the apartment was empty. Even Facebook checks the facts that random people post. Well joe sed it best it’s the beginning of the end.

That officer is taking cover behind a door that leaves his lower body exposed Lol. Flagging each other must be SOP in this department, I’m sure if you haven’t been deployed this looks like some serious stuff, but if you have, you probably see a bunch of civilians who don’t understand close quarter combat. I suppose they can be complacent like that as the enemy is confined to a small house. Let them have their fun, they just had to sit back for twenty years and watch the military raid real terrorists.

I say huge kudos to our Eureka PD SWAT team for being able to defuse a situation that could have gone way wrong since he’s two guys turned out to be armed. Thank-you Eureka PD
