County Releases Back to School Dates

The new school year is here! Please stay alert and watch out for children walking to and from school and watch for school buses making several stops. Do not pass a bus with the stop sign showing.[Images provided by the County of Humboldt]
Below are the first days for the following School Districts:
Fortuna School District began on August 12, 2019.
Eureka City School District begins on August 21, 2019.
Southern Humboldt Unified School District, Ferndale Unified School District, Arcata School District, McKinleyville School District, and Hoopa School District begin on August 26, 2019.

Thank God for school
Back in the day school didn’t start until the Monday after Labor day weekend. But, at the same time it didn’t end until late June.
Now it’s trudge back to the books in mid-late August, kiddos. Of course, with toxic algae bloom being what it is… might as well.
??I remember when Memorial Day and Labor Day defined summer. ??
Don’t forget your little red books, and memorize your slogans. Here’s a reminder:
1. Trump bad
2. Evil Republicans
3. We’re all the same
4. All founding father’s are racist
5. The world is on fire
6. Capitalism sucks
7. Pay no attention to Clinton’s 27 logged flights to pedo-island
8. There is no history before Woodstock
9. Fox news evil
10. Your I phone is god
11. There’s a racist under every rock
12. Guns have a mind of their own and hurt people
Just a few corrections…
1. Trunfp is a doofus.
2. Republicans are confused.
3. Equal rights for all.
4. Slave-owners and Indian-killers are racist.
5. Climate change is real — just like science, kids!
6. Unregulated capitalism is what sucks.
7. Who cares about Clinton anymore?
8. History includes the millennia which preceded ‘woodstock.’
9. Fox news is weak sauce for bigots.
10. I phones are for rich kids.
11. Racism is real.
12. Idiots with guns kill 30,000 people every year.
Above all, kids, remember to beware of binary logic, as it stupefies and leads to sloppy reasoning.
