[Update] Vehicle Fully Engulfed in Flames on Hoaglin Road Near Trinity County Line

Vehicle fire featureA vehicle fire was reported Thursday afternoon in the 11000 block of Hoaglin Road in southern Humboldt County, just west of the Trinity County line, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs.

The initial call came in at 1:58 p.m., with the reporting party describing a truck on fire. CHP units were assigned and en route a few minutes later. No injuries are reported at this time.

The reporting party stated the vehicle fire started from an over-heated engine.

Scanner traffic indicated the vehicle was fully involved at the time of the response. Kettenpom Fire and Alderpoint Fire were requested to assist at the scene, with the remote location deep in the southern Humboldt interior presenting additional challenges for responding crews.

Hoaglin Road sits in one of the more isolated stretches of the county where southeast Humboldt meets southwest Trinity.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Update 2:19 p.m.: CAL FIRE – Alderpoint is on scene reporting the vehicle on fire is a truck towing a trailer. A second tone out for Alderpoint Volunteer Fire Department has been requested though at this time, there is no spread to the vegetation.

Update 3:16 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, the fire has been extinguished, and the incident has been turned over to CHP.

A scary moment for the person(s) pulling the trailer. Sounds like the vehicle was a total loss. Glad there were no injuries to anyone. Thank you to all the first responders who toned out to that fire. What would we do without you always coming to help.
