Motorcycle Crash Feature iconAt approximately 1:54 p.m. an accident occurred on Davis Street near the intersection of Blue Lake Blvd. A motorcyclist had been fleeing law enforcement when an accident occurred.

Blue Lake Blvd is closed and fire is on scene. Emergency personnel are performing CPR on the driver.

Family of the motorcyclist arrived on scene about 2:10 p.m. and law enforcement is requesting assistance to deal with the ongoing situation.

UPDATE 2:22 p.m.: Humboldt County Sheriff deputies are following the ambulance to the hospital.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: According to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, “At about 1:52 this afternoon, a Sheriff’s deputy heading eastbound on 299 observed a male subject on a motorcycle at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The deputy attempted a traffic stop at the Blue Lake Exit off 299. The driver of the motorcycle failed to yield. At that point, a pursuit was initiated….Due to high speeds and danger to public the deputy terminated the pursuit at Greenwood Road. After that pursuit was terminated the motorcyclist was involved in an accident.”

The Sheriff’s Department was not in charge of the investigation of the accident, Karges said and referred us to the CHP. We’ve requested more information from them.

I suppose that’s one way to weed out the gene pool. But it’s a pity – People will grieve, others are having a bad day dealing with some kid who has/had no sense.

Very sorry for the family!! and very lucky he didn’t kill someone else with his unlawful thoughtless. Anyone going “in excess of 100 mph” is just asking for trouble.
