?Thank you Kym as always for keeping us updated. ??
Kym, we live a little northwest of Willits and I can not count the times the info posted on your website has been invaluable to us. Thank you.
I love knowing that! Thank you for taking the time to tell me.
Yes, Gen4Woman, especially because many of these never show up on the Caltrans Road Conditions website!

From the looks of that photo, I’d suggest the whole section has problems with the foundation substrate (is that the correct term?) and a couple more WET winters will result in needing more than a cosmetic patch at that location.
Welcome to Humboldt Island!
That’s what I was thinking. The grinding and re-paving is like putting a band-aid on a broken bone.
Yeah, we better hope the only lane doesn’t drop.
If they don’t FIX it, they may do that as well.
Aww! Just put a little lipstick on that pig it’ll be fine.
Kym, Ridgewood Grade between Willits and Ukiah are 2 lanes north and southbound. There have been many attempts to repair earth movement activity in the last few years. (Don’t build a road on a fill, not everyone will get that) if indeed the fizure is in the north bound lane, when it goes, it will take at least 3 if not all 4 lanes of 101. Grinding and repaving will not fix the under structure .
Didn’t they spend the last 15 years fixing that stretch? That’s like the spot right before Myers Flat were the freeway keeps cracking and settling.
This spot has been under repair since at least 1988, when I first moved to Willits. Am I the only one who recalls that this stretch slid out and closed 101 for a week back then?
