[UPDATE 9 a.m.] First View of Rocks and Tree Blocking 101
Caltrans District One has released a photo taken this morning of the slide that blocked Hwy 101 about 8:50 p.m. last night. At this point, Caltrans isn’t giving a time of reopening. They tweeted at 8:04 a.m., “US 101 Closed, South of Crescent City in Del Norte County-Last Chance Grade: Closed due to a slide. Crews are working hard to re-open one lane later this morning.”



Earlier the Del Norte Office of Emergency Services as posted, “U.S. 101 in Del Norte County is expected to open in approximately two hours. The road has been closed to due to a rock slide south of Crescent City (milepost 14.9).”
