[UPDATE 9:30 p.m.] Structure Fire Reported in Eureka

At 8:52 p.m. firefighters responded to the 1800 block of C Street in Eureka for the report of a structure on fire. The first report from the scene indicated there was light smoke coming from the structure.

Firefighters were quickly able to stop a small fire.

One person received a minor burn on his side but did not need to go to the hospital.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 9:30 p.m.: The fire apparently started in a bean bag chair.

An eight-year-old girl and two three month old babies received oxygen.

I can only imagine how hot a bean bag chair could burn with all that styrofoam inside it.

Glad those children are okay.

If only we could build walls around bean bag chairs or deport them back to China where they come from.
