Visiting a drug house is a crime? No wonder the jails are over crowded and the court system clogged.
Well that will deter solicitors, just put a sign up, Drug House.
I believe it is a crime if the purpose of the visit is to purchase illegal substances.
How do they prove that was the purpose? Sounds like another way to punish more people and scare people …even if charges dropped they stay on record. Absolutely wrong far as I can see to charge people for being there unless in possession of the drug as was noted on many people’s arrest in the home.
Witnessing abuse and doing nothing however should be a crime.
People should be scared. They should know their choices are not invisible. What is wrong is to assume “a litany of drug charges” means the police willy nilly arrested 14 uninvolved individuals after a month long investigation.
Drugs and users are destroying our communities. They should be scared.
“2500 block of Baldwin” includes every address on Baldwin…Good for the neighbors to shut this down. But will anything happen other than shift the activity to another house? Cops did their job now let’s see what the courts do…
Yes, now let’s see what the courts do. It would be appropriate to actually have a trial in real time instead of OR and years of wrangling over the rights of the perps. They do have rights, but they should be held without bail until their trial. Sometimes that will speed things up. We can only hope.
They certainly have figured out how to play the system. Justice delayed is justice denied. Yes- the accused do have rights. But our system has gotten very wonked out…
There is some local last names in that list. I think I went to school in weott with cecil.
Well dang, if they had waited until the 3rd of the month, they could have seized the fentanyl that runs through there, too.
So sad. Not enough elder care and the opportunists know who to target..happens to elderly all the time who are alone and vulnerable and in need and don’t list here all the resources because until/unless you have accessed them all yourself you do not know which resources are real and which are not and which real ones are sparse or ran by one a 501c/one person (maybe with a Board, good luck reaching them or their being able to do anything) with little oversight (aka a dictatorship) . At least government had more oversight and more people working in teams that were not all dependent on one person for their job and if we participate we can do better to ensure government operates better but looks like we are throwing it to the wolves after we starved elder care and other vital services then blamed it for not functioning.
