Yup. Slick roads.

Should start drying out later on today… followed my ‘back to summer’ temps… for awhile.
May be another rainfall event coming in early September.

On friday I was on 101 headed south from Gville about 5pm when rain got heavy. There was a ton of weird white foamy stuff all over & alongside the road. All the way from town, south thru the grove & further. Road was awash with it. Anyway else see it? I know oils etc come up with first big rain, but this was unusual. Like car wash suds.

Some synthetic oils and lubricants have a high degree of degtergent like properties to them. The idea is that they will grab carbon and other contaminants and hold them in solution to help keep your engine and mating surfaces clean of debris and working longer. The side effect is that when combined with other organic compounds and road tars and the porous road surfaces. They will bubble and foam.

Not unusual. It happens whenever the first rains are heavy. It soon washes away, but the pavement is still slick. It seem to take awhile every fall for people to figure out why they are spinning out of control, then they slow down for the winter.

It only took one time for me to learn about the first rain.
I was 18 just bopping along until I wasn’t.
I was vary luck no traffic was coming
I was thankful for the harm free lesson.

What you’re suggesting is that drivers adjust their driving style to suit ambient conditions for their own sake and the lives of others. Oh, LMAO! Har har har de har har! Oh, WOW, man. At least you mean well. Dreamer.
