She is passionate about her community service efforts and volunteers at the Cuddeback School Halloween Carnival, Fortuna High School Youth Softball Camp, and Fortuna High School 3rd Grade Agriculture Day.
Talyn and Mariah will assist the new District 1 Dairy Princess in her duties, which include speaking on behalf of the California dairy industry to various audiences throughout the year.
As Dairy Princess and Alternates, Grace, Talyn, and Mariah will attend a professional development training focused on presentation skills, advocating for the California dairy industry, leadership, and business etiquette.
Candidates were judged on speaking ability, education, dairy background, poise, and personality. Judges for the contest were Margaret Leonardi Pruett of Windsor, Halee Nichols from San Luis Obispo, and Larry Nicholson of Ferndale.

California is the nation’s leading milk producer, and produces more butter, ice cream and nonfat dry milk than any other state. California is the second-largest producer of cheese and yogurt. California milk and dairy foods can be identified by the Real California Milk seal, which certifies they are made with milk from the state’s dairy farm families.

Women want too be treated equally yet we still have these beauty contests. How about letting boys in. Shame on you. If their was some thing that excluded girls you no they would be protesting all over the news.
most men do NOT want to be called a princess. if they do……….Lol….
You make some excellent points. Thanks
Women are equally indebted to spend 60 hours a week doing something soul sucking while kids are raised by the state and the corporate cafe chain cooks dinner. Re, boys in the beauty pageant, Bruce Jenner was just crowned woman of the year; you are winning… perhaps just upset to find the prize is more bullshit.
Next you our going to tell me boys can compete against girls in sports.pahlease.stick too girls doing girl stuff an boys doing boy stuff.
It’s not a beauty contest. Get over it.
Congratulations to Grace Scilacci of Fortuna on being selected as the Dairy Princess for 2024. A wonderful picture of the gals.
Congratulations and best wishes. I’m sure your family and friends are proud of you all. I’m a past FFA member and I’m proud of you also. Don’t pay attention to the negativity of posted comments. Besides you are probably all too busy doing school, sports, and the hard work involved with agriculture to care much.
“If you are interested in preventing animal suffering, the first thing you should give up is eggs and milk, because the animals who produce those foods lead the most unhappy lives. You would do better to eat meat and stop eating eggs and dairy products.”
Cesar Chavez
Ty. I do enjoy a non-violent/ Ahimsa diet. My chickens did not mind me eating their eggs, same for the goats that gave us milk. When they are well cared for there is no harm involved in eggs or cheese.
Eating eggs and beef produced on several Humboldt County farms does not contribute to animal unhappiness. We have some fine conscienious farmers providing their lifestock with happy lives. I amhappy to support Humboldt County local farmers.
what an ignorant opinion. Please educate yourself
Those 3 young women are so impressive and look great!
Farm work is hard work but great training for kids.
