NCUAQMD Says Scotia Mill Still Operating Legally

Scotia Mill PondScotia Mill and Pond [by Ellin Beltz]

Press release from North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District:

A recent press release from the Coalition for Clean Energy contains incorrect information regarding the status of the Title V Operating Permit for the Humboldt Sawmill Company facility located in Scotia, California.

Federal operating permits are issued for a term of five years and are subject to renewal. District rules require that an application be submitted before the expiration of the permit term. To allow sufficient time for the permitting authority to evaluate the application, application materials are to be submitted a minimum of 6 months in advance of the permit expiration date. Failure to do so may result in enforcement action.

The fifth term of Humboldt Sawmill Company’s Title V permit ended on July 19, 2023. A renewal application was received by the District on May 12, 2023. The District deemed the application to be complete. Pursuant to District Rules, because the application was submitted before the permit expired, a permit shall remain in effect until such time as the permitting authority issues a final decision on the application. At any time throughout the application review process, the District may request additional information.

The application processing timeframe established in District Rules is 18 months from the date the application is received. Staff anticipates a final decision within the established regulatory time constraints. As mentioned above, the District did receive a complete application before the expiration date of the current permit to operate. However, the receipt of an application outside the timing requirements of District Rule 502(B)(2), is potentially a procedural violation. Similar to other air districts in California, the District is investigating the incident and may issue a violation notice pending the outcome of the investigation. A procedural violation is not considered a high‐ priority violation per EPA criteria.

I’m confused Mr. Clark. Is progracias a racial slur or a liberal slur or both?

Thank you to North Coast Air Quality for their fast response and RHBB for their fast post of it. This is the way things should go. Raise a question, get an answer and stop with all the assumption of outrage over wrong doing before hearing the answers.

I wouldn’t call that press release a “question”- it was a full on conclusion. If it was a question then a better title would have been “IS the permit expired.” It was quite inflammatory….but yes, glad the AQMD was able to respond so quickly and quell any uproar.

I’m disappointed that you’d print the “Coalition for Clean Energy” press release without vetting it, at least a little. Can anyone just email you a press release about anything? If so, I have grudges against a couple local businesses that have *technically* broken the law in some way or another that i’d like to blast here.

Old picture that’s looking north from the bridge and completely opposite direction of power plant. Plus the pond hasn’t been that full for a few years

Enlightening to see that so many people called this obviously slanted activist created article out and pointed out the truth. Maybe all isn’t lost.

Despite everything you see in the media and government, the last poll I saw said only 17% of Americans were hard core leftists. It is just that the 17% has taken over everything and is pulling all the strings…

You Mean the Trump who was cheated out of an election? Who was impeached for ‘Russian collusion’ while the FBI knew it was all made up by Hillary and the DNC? Whose every associate has been arrested for some made up charge? Who house has been raided on prime time TV? Who is embroiled in endless politicised court cases? Who is constantly attacked lied about and misquoted by the media? Whose supporters are treated as terrorists? That Trump?

He is ‘winning’ because most of the 82% see what the 17% are doing to him and they don’t like it…

Finally you’ve outed yourself in a burst of honesty. You bought the Big Lie of the “stolen” election.” Despite no evidence, despite over 60 bogus law suits, all lost, you MAGA lemmings still cling to your version of democracy, if you lose, it’s a fraud, if you win, the rest of us have to concede graciously, like Gore and Hillary.
That’s a sham democracy, it’s Orban Renewal and Putin power, all admired and respected by Donald John Trump.
”Just find 11,780 votes”. That’s your dude, your hero.

Well, not exactly. Gore sued and it went to the Supreme Court and Clinton still is insisting Trump stole the election. She doesn’t know how but she’s still saying he stole it. Besides a difference in temperaments, Trump had a better reason to believe that manipulation by the Democrat Party was likely. He had been officially so continually screwed over by the Democrats in Congress, it would not be surprising a man like him clung to the idea of a stolen election. No one came out of that time with clean hands despite your spin. No one put the country ahead of petty personal politics.

The evidence is statistical. All of the key states stopped counting at 11:00PM and kicked out the poll watchers. At this point Trump was way ahead in all these battleground states. Then they resumed counting, and in a statistical impossibility Xiden got something like 98% of the remaining votes and shot ahead of Trump. Exact same pattern in all the battleground states. There is no possible way for that to have happened in a single state, let alone all of the key states the exact same way. And since it is impossible for what happened to have happened, there is no other logical conclusion that can be drawn except for a rigged election. You can talk about court cases all you want, it is still statistically impossible that Xiden won, that is reality…

Between the fallout plume from the power plant and what I imagine is plentiful lead paint and asbestos, it seems like Scotia/Rio Dell might not be a very healthy environment.

Freedom of speech does not apply to private platforms. Your posts are most likely deleted because they are ignorant to say the least. Using the word “libtard” will never gain you any credibility.
