Cal Fire personnel responded to an alarm at the Best Western in Garberville on Thursday night.

However, they arrived at an incident that was not a fire. Instead, an altercation was occurring between several individuals. City Ambulance also responded.

Humboldt County Sherrif’s Office was requested to respond to the incident according to scanner traffic, however, CHP was asked to “back” due to no HCSO deputies in the area.

We arrived on scene to witness CHP officers speaking with two individuals in the parking lot as well as additional officers speaking with an individual near Redwood Drive and another behind in an alleyway behind Vocality Community Credit Union.

A hotel employee told us that an altercation had occurred, and a fire extinguisher was used as a weapon.

City Ambulance and Cal Fire were released from the scene.

CHP continued speaking with the individuals.

When will Honsal be held accountable for his complete failure to do his job. It is his responsibility to keep the Garberville station manned 24 7 365. The HCSO is the law enforcement agency responsible for these crimes, yet time and time again, instead of doing his job, Honsal calls CHP to do his job for him.

Time to step down, you incompetent loser.

There’s not exactly a line forming to join law enforcement with all the “defund the police” and assaults on them as of late. It’s hard to recruit and those who can retire are retiring which is the same for many first responders. Tired of being treated like “shit” while trying to protect others.

The sheriffs deputy for that area could have been on a call somewhere else and like our area there are not as many deputies as there used to be. Maybe some of the people that complain should go to classes and then apply for the job.

The HCSO doesn’t staff the area regularly. It’s not a matter of being on another call. It’s about not being there at all.

Sheriff Honsal did not call the CHP. They were close and the first ones to respond. The HCSO is looking to take new deputies on board, but there are slim pickings right now for those jobs I am not sure if a deputy or two man the Garberville office 24/7. Sheriff Honsal is not an incompetent loser at all. For some reason you blame all the crimes happening on him and his department. Sorry Alf that I don’t agree with you this time, but most of the time I do!

This is a regular problem. Honsal won’t send deputies and if CHP can’t respond for some reason he personally tries to get officers reprimanded. This is indeed his failure. He is a loser on both a personal and professional level.

Alf, how do you know that Sheriff Honsal will not send deputies to a crime scene? Any officer that he may reprimand I am sure earned it buy doing something really stupid while on duty.

Clearly you don’t know how this situation happens regularly. Honsal is arrogant, incompetent and I know for a fact the officers he has tried to have reprimanded were just victims of his bad temperament. He’s one individual who would never be welcome in my home. He’s as corrupt as his father was.

Alf, I don’t know why this happens all the time with Honsal. I assume you have first-hand knowledge of how he acts. I am also not familiar with his father. Can you tell me who his father was and was he involved with the HCSO. I appreciate your knowledge, and I think it is taking my blinders off. Sorry to keep bugging you.

His father, William SR was a Humboldt County Sheriff years ago. He was known for illegal searches and planting evidence among other crimes. It doesn’t bug me when you disagree or ask questions. I enjoy discussion. You truly seem like a solid guy!

Out in the hills, sure. That’s why people moved here. To be left alone. Town is a different situation though. I implore you to find anyone who isn’t smoking fent from a foil, who is happy with lack of l.e. engagement in town.
