Valley West Clean the Sidewalk Days Canceled

This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

City of ArcataThe City of Arcata’s Clean the Sidewalk Days in the Valley West neighborhood, which took place every first Sunday of the month, are canceled as of June 2022.

Volunteers are encouraged to attend the ongoing trash clean-ups hosted by Comunidad Unida del Norte de Arcata (CUNA) on the second to last Sunday of the month from 11 AM to 1 PM. The group meets at the entrance to Carlson Park.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to attend these clean-ups and work will include picking up non-hazardous items left behind in the neighborhood’s public spaces. Trash pickers, safety vests, gloves and buckets will be provided, and community members who have their own clean up supplies are encouraged to bring them. Participants should bring their own water, a face covering, and dress for the weather. Volunteers will also be expected to sign a volunteer agreement and a COVID-19 liability waiver.

The main volunteers were HSU students and most are gone.
