Searchers Look for Missing Humboldt County Hunter Near Covelo But Only Find His Dog

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and Mendocino County Search & Rescue Team are currently conducting a missing person search in the area of Highway 162 at the 8-mile bridge near Covelo, California.
The missing person was last seen yesterday (10-24-21) in the early morning hours while camping/hunting with family.
Today searchers located the missing person’s dog and are asking the public to contact the Sheriff’s Office by calling 707-463-4086 regarding any potential sighting or known whereabouts.
The missing person is identified as being:
John Davis, 48 year-old male from Humboldt County (see photo), standing 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 220 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.
Last seen wearing: Camouflage Rain Jacket, Neon Green pants with reflective stripe.

Did MCSO say exactly where in the vicinity of 8-mile bridge they were searching – east, west? Camping next to the river? In the middle of the epic downpour?
Hunting? For what? It was raining so hard everything was seeking shelter from the storm. Camping? Amphibious camping is to be avoided.
Sounds like somebody wants to disappear.

Reason I ask is that the open land to the west of that location is all Shamrock ranch, and to the east and north of the river is all Padula’s Coastal Forestlands. Everything else is smaller private parcels.
Some people trespass through padula up bloody run creek to get to the landlocked patch of BLM land to the east. My understanding is that was his plan. Super bad idea to go in without gps/sat beacon, especially after so much rain. If the dog didn’t lead the searchers back to the subject I’m not optimistic

If I was a dad and my son high-tailed it to the car leaving me to move or take care of the tent and other stuff in the rain, I’d be mad as hell.

Did any one trying calling a phone he had maybe he testing system someone who pretends, in an argument or discussion, to be against an idea or plan that a lot of people support, in order to make people discuss and consider it in more… POSITIVE VIEW POINT
Possibly slipped on a rock and got injured. Maybe broken leg. Or slipped into river. Should be able to spot neon green pants. Anyone with a drone should go out and fly that area to help locate get a high birds eye view and look for the bright clothing. Start at the last point seen.
There were a ton of police up the road to Covelo most standing around.
I pray that the searchers will find him, and he will be ok. Just maybe they can get the dog to go back where is came from, and locate John. Been real wet and cold. Not good. Sending hope and prayers to his family.
