Jacqueline Marie Dadivongsone

Jacqueline Marie Dadivongsone, born April 13th, 1967 in Martinez CA took her last breath August 8th 2021 in Eureka California after a short battle with cancer surrounded by her three daughters. Her sons-in-law and her grandchildren were all able to be with her on facetime to help send her off peacefully and surrounded in love.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bounmy Dadivongsone, along with her parents Jimmy and Peggy VanMeter, all of her grandparents and several uncles.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Stephanie and Phou Heuang (Elizabeth, Tommy, Daophet, Nina, Laila, Navalut, Xanthia,Jerry, Sammy, and Mykinzy), Tasha and Ott Ketphanh (Jessica, Rebecca, Monica, Andrew, Angel, Adrianna, Anastasia), and Peggy Dadivongsone and her husband Christian Lara (Josiah, Jeremiah, Alexander, Aniyah), along with one great granddaughter and 3 great grandsons. She is also survived by Phil and Siarah McClurie and her siblings and their families Wanda and Gary Henson, Jimmy VanMeter Jr. and wife Carina, and Lonnie VanMeter and husband Ed Castillo and all her many nieces and nephews, along with many aunties and uncles. Her beloved best friend Rhonda Vanbibber was also someone very important that will feel her loss as her family does. She was blessed with a huge extended family and was loved by everyone who crossed her path. She had a big impact on the Laotian community and will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.

Jacqueline was diagnosed in June of 2021 with stage 4 cancer. The last two months of her life she tried with every ounce of energy she had left to right her wrongs, make amends, and she gave out whatever love she had left to give. She showed courage and fought to the end, still cracking jokes and trying to make her passing easier for the ones she left behind.

There will be an open time to say your goodbyes on Saturday August 14th at Dobles Mortuary 550 12th Street Fortuna CA. from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Reception and celebration of life will follow at her daughter Peggy’s house in Eureka.

I remember her from the 80s when she gave talks about the Laos, who they were, why they were here, and how centered their community and culture were on gardening and the role chickens played there.
Condolences to her loved ones.

So sorry to hear of Ms Dadivongsone’s passing. Two months from diagnoisis to death from cancer is pretty short. As someone with stage 4, I can identify with her, and I hope her family finds peace after this most difficult time for them.
