This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Quinn Williams

Quinn Williams

On 11-04-2020 at about 8:47 AM Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to assist Round Valley Tribal Police Officers in the 24000 block of Agency Road in Covelo, California.

Deputies learned Tribal Police Officers had observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Biggar Lane, however lost sight of the vehicle before they could conduct a traffic enforcement stop.

Tribal Police Officers searched the area for the vehicle and eventually found the vehicle parked near the 24000 block of Agency Road.

An adult male, identified as Quinn Williams [Age 22], was standing next to the vehicle. When Tribal Police Officers went to contact Williams they observed him toss an object into the bushes along the side of the road.

Upon inspecting the bushes Tribal Police Officers located a loaded .357 caliber Magnum revolver.

Williams was eventually arrested by Deputies for possession of a loaded firearm and not being the registered owner of the firearm.

A records check of the loaded revolver revealed it was reported stolen from Medford, Oregon.

Williams was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on the listed charge.

In accordance with the COVID-19 emergency order issued by the State of California Judicial Council, bail was set at zero dollars and Williams was released after the jail booking process.

This is why gun safes and trigger locks should be mandatory. Its the only way to keep things out of the hands of criminals. Now this young man’s life is ruined because of the temptation. Had the gun been properly stored this would not have happened. Just an example of a nother irresponsible gun owner.

Blaming the victim won’t fix anything.

Do not blame the innocent gun owner for a fucking thief’s actions. Poor little darling. Did this asshole go into someone’s home or car to get the gun? He ripped someone off to get it. He looks old enough to know that stealing is not allowed, and there are consequences for his actions. He knew he had done wrong, he threw the gun into the brush. Innocent? We don’t think so. Ruined for life? If he gets out and continues to steal, yes. If he changes his ways no. Stop mollycoddling assholes. And, gun safes are mandatory, but useless. Some thief trying to get into your home to rip you off so they can buy their meth, will not wait until you can open your safe and defend yourself. Your gun should be out and available to insure you are not a wrongful victim, and that the rip off is the correct victim.

I know for a fact that the vast majority of safes can be broken into using a sawzall anyway. Takes about 10-15 minutes. So if you are a grown man with a nice set of tools in your garage, then you had better lock those up too.

I wish everyone’s guns were taken away. Just out of spite. 78% of this country couldn’t care less. Oh and just FYI for you trump supporters, why don’t you look into the gun restrictions trump has enacted since he’s been in office? Or is every article on earth just fake news now?

This young man is getting a lesson in personal responsibility. It is not the fault of the gun or the person from whom the gun was stolen.

By-passing the Second Amendment, if someone has a hand gun it could be stolen. I don’t have a weapon in my possession so a weapon cannot be stolen from me. So how does law enforcement protect me from guy’s like this from hurting me. And don’t say I should buy a weapon. That means I need to protect myself. If you believe that then why have the police? They only show up after a guy like this hurts me. That’s a system that does not work. If I need to protect myself then I need an M-60, as much ammo as I want to own, Claymores, hidden fatal security traps and hand grenades that I cannot be responsible for owning if someone who isn’t looking for causes to hurt me walks into my danger security field and dies. Oh you have a problem with that?

(Most) trigger locks work only as long at the thief doesn’t have a cable cutter… or a pair of side cutters. ($15*)
(Most) gun safes work as long as the thief doesn’t have an angle grinder or sawsall. ($15*)
Unless you buy a $$$ safe, they are designed to keep kids (or casual thieves) out.

Maybe people shouldn’t steal other peoples’s stuff.

How many locks are reasonable with your non-logic? A trigger lock in a gun safe in a locked closet in a locked basement in a locked house behind a locked gate behind a locked wall…

At this point the only sensible thing is to legalize claymores for home protection. It’s the only safe and 100 percent effective method to keep guns out of criminals hands.

Sonny b is liberalism personified. The poor young man/ thief is the victim, whose life is ruined because of the temptation that the irresponsible gun owner/culprit caused by not locking his shit up inside of his own house. Anyone want to wager on who Sonny b voted for?

Oh, I dunno. I think we’re neck and neck with Eureka. We have arson and shootings, you have meth and heroin busts and pedestrians run over every day. Take your pick.
Why choose Covelo? Like Avis, we try harder.

I have a friend who lives in Covelo, he said he’s looking to move somewhere nicer so any third world country will do.

Hey, I know that guy! We’re both checking out Turkmenistan. Better goods and services, for sure. And safer, much safer.
