Evening Update on the North Zone of the August Complex

https://www.facebook.com/SixRiversNF/posts/3618790388139500

This is a quick overview of what Shannon Prather, the Planning Ops Trainee, said occurred today on the north edge of the August Complex.

  • Burn operations on the far upper east of the fire, south of Platina were successful today.
  • Rattlesnake Ridge in Div I had spot fires this morning. Firefighters managed to get indirect line all around them and they are holding. But based on the threat they offered to Hwy 36, Forest Glen was given evacuation Orders. The fire is still on the south side of Rattlesnake Ridge.
  • Fire still flanking along Horse Ridge. Resources are still holding onto that fire.
  • Firefighters had to pull out of the Kettenpom area for a time as the winds kicked up, but they are back in the area doing structure protection this evening.

Hi Scared, Make sure you have fire breaks and a bag packed to be on the safe side. You can see the ash here like snow the closer the fire gets the ash may not be out by the time it gets here. Stay safe.
