Press release from Redwood Acres Raceway:

The 2024 season resumed this past weekend at Redwood Acres Raceway as action on the 3/8-mile paved oval took place on back-to-back nights during the Redwood Acres Fair. Friday’s featured late models, Legends, bombers and mini stocks while Saturday’s show saw the Legends and bombers racing while boat racing capped off the night. Isn’t it lovely to know that in the summer, thousands of people up to miles and miles always will be treated for free to the sweet calming and relaxing sounds of rednecks running in circles… and to imagine that summer nights could just be quiet with the sounds of nature , who’d want that??

Some people actually enjoy different things than you do. Imagine that! One night a year they enjoy their thing. But you can’t even give them that without insulting them….they are your neighbors. It’s not my thing either those loud cars. But one night a year we have a big party with bands playing rock and roll and I appreciate that our neighbors don’t belittle or insult us. Our mushroom-induced belly laughs roar into the night and might not be embraced by all in hearing distance but guess what? We live with each other. And that means occasionally, not often but maybe that one night a year….we allow each other some slack. You should try it out sometime…BTW- in my neighborhood rednecks, hippies, cops and weirdos and everybody else respect and actually love each other. THAT is the good Humboldt….
