Gosh, this sounds exciting…
Only $300, plus gas, food, beer, cheetos, and drugs…
Hmmmmm need a place to stay…
I’m there dude!
Alpha Blondy – Interplanetary Revolution. Ivory Coast.
Ja Mon!
Yes, that’s how these large music festivals work.
Cheetos ARE crucial…
Sunglasses, too…
Its too bad the MCC cannot remember that “familiar bend” is on the South Fork Eel River, Main Eel River is 16 miles to the east.
If you want to split hairs…
That “familiar bend”, looks like it’s only just about 13 miles southwest of the Main Stem Eel River at Cain Rock… As the crow flies, that is… Bee line… According to my old map…
But it’s actually all part of the Eel River Drainage…
And all of it is the Eel River…
The South Fork is not a different River, it’s just a Fork of the very same Eel River…
It’s not like they are saying that Reggae on the River will be held along a “familiar bend” adjacent to the Main Stem Eel River…
So where does the South Fork Eel River “Fork” from the Eel River?
I’m listening, please, share your theory.
How do you figure…???
The South Fork Eel River clearly doesn’t fork “FROM”, the Main Stem Eel River, Ed.
It’s a Fork, “OF”, the Eel River…
It’s a, “tributary”, it is not a “distributary”….
(Nice try though.)
A Fork of a River is generally described as if one was moving UP the river, not as if one was moving DOWN it…
Hence, a “fork”.
Don’t ask me, “WYE”…
(There are rare exceptions, that are distributaries, not tributaries ..)
A smaller river “Fork” can described as a “Branch”, but, not as a “Root”.
The branch or fork is all part of the same tree.
The tree and the branch are not separate entities…
You act like the South Fork Eel River spills into the Pacific Ocean in a different spot than the Main Stem Eel River spills into the Ocean…
But, that is quite simply not the case, Ed.
The South Fork Eel River has only a “confluence” with the Main Stem Eel River, it has no “Mouth”…
Therefore, they are one, and the same Eel River.
However…
Fortunately, in this particular case, it does have a “Voice”, that represents a small part of it.
Unfortunately, that same “Voice”, doesn’t advocate for, nor represent, the entire Eel River…
I have no explanation for that.
🤷♂️
So what did you mean by “The South Fork is not a different River, it’s just a Fork of the very same Eel River…”
It means that saying, “familiar bend in the Eel River”, to describe the location, is correct, and perfectly acceptable, not incorrect, and unacceptable, as you continue to, and, yet obsessively, imply…
So what did you mean by…
“Its too bad the MCC cannot remember that “familiar bend” is on the South Fork Eel River, Main Eel River is 16 miles to the east.”
……………
…???
(It’s not something that, “…the MCC cannot remember…”, it is, IN FACT, A NON-ISSUE…)
It’s superfluous.🤷♂️
It makes no difference as to the location of the “familiar bend”…
Your illustration clearly shows that the river system is BOLDLY labeled, overall, “EEL RIVER”…
It also clearly illustrates that the South Fork, is just a part of the Eel River…
It does not stand alone.
Thank you for making my point.
You have clearly and knowingly misconstrued my meaning…
Whatever floats your boat…
(I guess that should read, “not incorrect NOR unacceptable”…)
Thanks for proving my point that your expectations are pedantic, persnickety, and nitpicking.
But, what’s the point…???
The point is, is that the South Fork can be properly referred to as the Eel River, it’s just that the rest of the Eel River, cannot be properly referred to as being the South Fork.
For example, it would be a mistake to refer to the Eel River at Alderpoint, as being the North Fork, (a common mistake)…
It would not be a mistake to refer to the the Eel River at Alderpoint as merely being, The Eel River, instead of insisting it MUST be referred to unwaveringly and invariably as The Main Stem Eel River…
Saying that it is The Main Stem Eel River would not be incorrect, but it certainly isn’t necessary.
Understand…???
You’ve got what’s important all muddled up with what isn’t at all important.
Wye…???
By all means, carry on…
Maybe you could contact State Parks, tell them they have been wrong all these years and correct their websites. Here are two examples:
https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=422
https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=423
Look it ain’t rocket science, Ed…
I’m not saying that calling it the South Fork of the Eel River is incorrect…
You suggesting that is what I am saying is very disingenuous of you…
What I am saying, that you seem unable to fathom, is that it is not incorrect to refer to a particular “familiar bend” of it as part of, simply, the Eel River…
Look, Ed, bottom line, is the South Fork of the Eel River also simply part of the Eel River, as a whole…???
(Yes, that is a rhetorical question…)
You are the ONLY ONE that INSISTS that the particular Fork of the Eel River, associated with a particular location, MUST BE IDENTIFIED, WITHOUT EXCEPTION…!!!
Ever notice that…???
Let’s play a little game, Ed…
Name just one other person, just one, with evidence, that ever gave even a tiny shit about the South Fork Eel River being referred to simply as the Eel River, besides just little old you…
Good Luck.
You are making an Alp out of a non-issue…
Like I’ve already said…
If, for example, someone called the South Fork Eel River the North Fork Eel River, then that would clearly be an actual mistake…
However, calling either Fork of the Eel River, simply, the Eel River, would not technically be a mistake.
See the obvious difference…???
Don’t engage with the trolls.
Ed’s OK with me…
He’s passionate about the South Fork Eel River, his stomping grounds, and his previous home.
He holds it dear.
That’s cool. I don’t blame him.
So do I. I understand… It bothers me too when I think that someone is being disrespectful to the place…
It just seems to me that he gets too wound up over stuff that doesn’t matter, along with getting properly wound up about stuff that does matter.
I wish him well…
I really do.
Little stuff ain’t worth the grief…
The more important things are…
Maybe come on down to the river, take a swim and listen to some music Ed, I am sure our locals will happily greet you with smiles. You are loved.
They should have ROR at the mouth of the Mattole! Wouldn’t harm a thing. We all pay for that land, BLM.
Always negative on Reggae on the River or anything the local community enjoys, shame on you Ed.
You are confusing being “negative” with truth and the truth is, the MCC does not respect the South Fork Eel River, neither do the sponsors, vendors, bands and people who attend. Shame on you for not understanding the truth. Anything to make a buck, no matter what the cost, no matter the negative effects Reggae has on the environment and wildlife habitat…
Now, I think you have a legitimate point, Ed…
We might not always agree, but I definitely appreciate you being a champion of the South Fork Eel River…
I read all the words and still haven’t got a clue what the difference between tier 1 and tier 2 are, or why a person would prefer tier 1 over tier 2. And I have less than a day to figure it all out.
This was a very poorly written press release, IMO.
Yeah, it’s a bit vague…
From what I gather…
The only difference between tier 1 and tier 2 is $50.00, and the only difference is determined by whether or not you purchase your tickets, (tier 1), by 7/1/2024, (not sure if that is inclusive or not), and then, after 7/1/2024, until 8/1/2024, the tickets, then become (tier 2), for the very same 3 day general admission which then go up $50.00 from $299.00 to $349.00…
You snooze past, or (until…???), 7/1/2024, you lose $50.00. (3 day general admission will cost you an extra $50.00 after 7/1/2024)
Save $50.00 by buying your 3 day General Admission ticket a month or more in advance, on or before 7/1/2024…
As far as I can tell…
so just to make things clear…. their are NO dams on the EELriver? RHBB….why cant i comment w/out giving my divers salience and SS#?????? thanks
There are two dams on the upper mainstem of the Eel River; Scott Dam and Cape Horn Dam. There are no dams on the South Fork of the Eel River.
