Ghost Gun, Over 10K Plants and More Seized During Yesterday’s Raids on Four Different Parcels in the Alderpoint Area, Says MET

Press release from Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET):

Cannabis Farm illegal

On June 4, 2020, deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served four search warrants to investigate illegal cannabis cultivation in the Alderpoint/Rancho Sequoia area. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Humboldt County Code Enforcement assisted in the service of the warrant.

Four parcels were investigated during the service of the warrants. These parcels did not possess the required county permit and state licenses to cultivate cannabis commercially.

During the service of the warrants, deputies eradicated approximately 10,299 growing cannabis plants. Additionally, six firearms, including a “ghost gun,” were seized.

Assisting agencies found the following violations:

  • Eight water pollution violations (up to $20,000 fine per day, per violation)

  • Six water diversion violations (up to $20,000 fine per day, per violation)

  • Commercial cannabis ordinance violations (up to $10,000 fine per day)

  • Streamside management violations

Additional violations with civil fines are expected to be filed by the assisting agencies.

During these investigations, two people were cited and released for associated violations on scene. All of these cases will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for further review.

Anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

Beautiful piece of property! Would be even prettier planted with an orchard and vegetable garden instead!

And the bulk of the water used for 10,299 plants could be available for salmon.

Oh no- it would just get used for trees and veggie garden instead. And long showers. People don’t care and the salmon cannot come back as long as we carry on….

Wrong. The area that water comes from isn’t a salmon fry creek or any known species that’s protected. It does however flow into another creek that does have salmon fry about 200 yards up from the eel before biologists have said the fry can’t pass. That section never ever runs out of water even in our largest drought. Properties in Rancho for years were fed off of a high water table or directly from the creek. Rancho Sequoia was heavily logged and most environmental damage was caused before it was ever subdivided. Know what your talking about please.

Agree 100% and more…..pesticides in the water, rodenticides killing threatened and endangered species, roads being built illegally across unstable ground, poorly drained grow sites discharging sediment into streams, creeks and rivers. on and on.

Yes, I know a tired record with my comments but somebody has to keep reminding us what we are fighting for and trying to regain in our community.

that also can be said for the logging industry, HRC applies 1,000’s of gallons of herbicides annually to kill the oaks after logging. most of which enters the water ways and groundwater. Those big brown areas you find on google earth where it looks like selective harvesting occurred, those are the recently sprayed areas. it is the most likely culprit for the majority of health problems in Sohum, due to the drinking water source options for homesteaders and even those on public water. some of the watershed I have found are only a mile or so away from the primary drainages. the main difference between damage at grows and logged tracts is the acreage of damage.

ghost guns are easily made, and there are thousands of them. It is why we are free. I also saw an RPG slung over the shoulder of someone in Minn. I checked it out, you can get one for $1500. The armed American citizen is a free citizen. The Russian dissident Solselentsky or something, said his biggest fear was when the Russian govt took all their guns. Hitler also disarmed his people, saying he would keep them safe. Ask a Gypsy or a gay person or a person of color, or a Jew how that went. The NRA is right.

Hitler armed HIS citizens. This Hitler comparison is absolute bullshit. In Nazi Germany you were either destined for slave labor and extermination( and prohibited from owning a fire arm, or anything else), or you were in the Nazi Youth, SS, Gestapo, Luftwaffe, army, navy , etc., and very much mandated to own a weapon and be ready to use it.
Theres a creepy book about the women of Nazi Germany. You never hear about some of them, and the worst have been allowed to quietly recede into history. One story involved a military officer’s wife who enjoyed shooting the slave laborers in the garden for sport.

Banditonhwy36. But weed also pays for 6 months of exotic vacations to costa Rica, nicaragua, bachelor, heliskiing vacations in japan private planes, European vacation homes, shopping trips to the bay area. Fancy trucks, electric vehicles , rvca hats , Patagonia, north face jackets, lululemon pants, expensive wine, gambling etc etc etc. Oh dont forget to scam welfare , free healthcare, food stamps, wic, free childcare, free lunch, discount electricity and make sure to dodge those pesky taxes too.

The mortgage would be a lot easier to pay if property was sold for fair market value instead of the exponentially inflated pot prices. I know one piece of property in Ferndale that on its best day had a value of 400k (mor likely 250k). It went on the market for 1.5 million because of the pot permit. That’s the biggest problem. Greed, greed and more greed. I’m sure this isn’t the only case like that going on every day. The robbery starts at the sale of the property and continues through the whole operation.

Actually sold that piece of property for free it had notices and the county wouldn’t just take to property from us so we gave it away along with all the trouble and told the county to get bent if they didn’t want the property.

Looks to be a very tidy operation.
Were the owners having permit problems?
Why are the Raiders allowed to summarily eradicate without due process?
Are the CDFW guys only there to “trump-up” violations and collect fines?
Are ghost guns illegal? (No).
Is it just a money grab by HumCo and the State ? (Yes).

And it is people like you “Been there” that continue to marginalize the terrific damage these grows have on our environment and community.

Pathetic that you can’t see the damage that is occurring from the illegal diversions, the illegal use of herbicides and fungicides, the sediment from improperly designed roads and grow pads, community impacts from other drugs involved…..on and on.

Continue to turn a blind eye towards all this and you we will continue to see the degradation of our great southern Humboldt way of life.

Most likely some or all of what was cut is being replanted today. Early in the season and still plenty of time for more runs. I know last year they went to rancho multiple times to cut the same grow. Fuck the fines just replant because we all know they aren’t going to arrest anyone. FTP

What the hell is a “ghost gun?”

I’ve been a hunter, shooter, collector, and gun nerd for over 30 years. I reload my own ammo, and even cast my own bullets. I’ve had a Federal Firearms License. (03 / curio & relic)

I have literally never encountered the phrase “ghost gun” in any context until today.

A ghost gun is a homemade firearm without serial numbers or registration. Most are as good as factory production firearms.only “lowers” are needed for registration, not all the evil “accessory’s “.

I figured that’s what it was… An intentionally misleading and scary term invented by those in authority to describe a legal thing they don’t like.

Not at all surprised to find Kevin DeLeon involved with such. Lifelong Dem, but in the unlikely event that I’m ever offered the opportunity to vote for that power-mongering twerp, I believe I’ll pass.

Thanks for all that you do, Kym.

Have a bitchin’ day!

This is probably the moment that the “ghost gun” phrase went viral:
https://youtu.be/iJmFEv6BHM0
It’s a phrase made up by the anti-gun media, now famous thanks to Kevin DeLeon’s rambling presser, part of which is shown in this clip.
Basically, a homebuilt, unserialized “80%” ar-15 or other firearm. This is perfectly legal in most of the US, but in 2016 California voters passed a law requiring registration and serialization, any new 80% builds require serialization from the state before construction begins.

I drilled, milled and assembled an AR pistol in about 2 hours with a drill press. It has to fit a certain criteria the first time it is made, then it can be modified by the owner later, ie. single shot to semi auto. I made mine a few years ago before the laws changed, but now you legally have to file for a serial number before you build one. You can still make some pretty cool featureless ARs at home.

It actually looks like a pretty clean operation. Most likely they (MET) left the place in worst condition then when they found it. They almost always do. Is that a Porta-Potty by the building? What the heck is a “Ghost Gun”? Murder Mountain- Ghosts….spooky!

Why are there no pictures of the water pollution and stream diversion violations?

There’s no such thing as a “ghost gun” it has always been legal to build your own firearms from the comfort of your home. You used to be able to buy black powder muzzle loading derringer kits to assemble yourself almost as long as they’ve been a concept. The term ghost gun is just meant to scare people who don’t know any better

I guess I read the news about stuff on here so I’m guilty of that but commenting on it is my first time. Y’all just a bunch of bored ass hicks who wouldn’t last a day in the world outside of your own weird little spots. We all know what a ghost gun is. Luckily I get to travel with my head out of the dirt. Btw almost everyone killed around here is as dirty as the killer. Wake the fuck up. Tell the truth, don’t act hard cause you’re growing an easy ass plant to grow, don’t flash cash and get greedy, don’t interact with people who are dicey, and, above all, have honor and integrity. Simple. I remember the first time I went to garberville and got asked by a bunch of kids who I knew around there, maybe thinking I was buying or selling. I was just passing through, never been there and not trying to hustle shit unless it’s rock solid and correct. What a joke. I don’t talk much, they did. Go figure. Sad to see such a bunch of wannabes and told em as much. Y’all fail by putting more importantance on pretty much the simplest job I’ve done with my own money. Frankly it’s boring and kinda scummy. Expect the younger generation (and I’m only 43) to be the worst ever without maybe some books in their houses/trailers

If only they put this much energy into investigating murders and home break ins.
Its whats made vigilante justice come back strong. Its pointless to call the hcso, they do nothing helpful, best to deal with thieves and others on our own.

Or if timber and mining companies were held to even half the standards pot farms are. I saw a hillside out the 299 that was literally shaved away. They fuck up the environment so much worse than any pot farm, look at the aerial photos of northern Humboldt forests, theyre trashed.

I’ve seen logging companies spray herbicides to kill the brush above Redwood Creek and looking out my window I can see 2 mountains that are very steep so they flattened the tops, made landings, and brought in a yarder. Changed forever and unsightly
