At approximately 1 p.m., a white mini van and a Kia collided at the intersection of 7th and E Streets in Eureka. The intersection is now blocked. Traffic is snarling on some of the surrounding streets as vehicles attempt to avoid the crash scene.

One minor is reporting stomach pain and is being taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Another adult is also being transported to the hospital.

Willie, I don’t think the social distancing rules were adhered to in this case. I think the COVID DRIVER-19 got them both. Hope all are fine. Thank you first responders.

Constant speeding, stop sign and red light running these days. A woman tried to run me over in the crosswalk this week. It’s not the flu it’s homicidal drivers. EPD snoozes away ….

That’s one crazy switch-a-roo going on if the Kia got that body damage on the left side from this accident. It looks like more than just front impact crumpling.

It can be written off as bad drivers will be bad drivers. For a town the size of Eureka with only one road allowing 40 mph and the rest being 25 – 35 mph there are a lot of these wrecks. I came across a 3 car wreck at a 25 x 25 mph intersection where a full sized pickup was rolled, a full sized SUV was crushed and almost pushed clear across the sidewalk and almost over the bank and a Corvette was exploded in the middle of the road. How can this happen at 25 mph?

It would be nice if everyone driving had a license, had no drugs or alcohol in them, texting and phone calls could wait until later, and people would drive the speed limit. At least it would be a start.

It’s ridiculous. That’s an intersection with a light. I would love to see some follow-up on all these Eureka wrecks… letting us know if they ever determined an at-fault driver; what the penalties were. Evidently people don’t think getting in a collision, suffering personal injury or maybe death, or killing someone else is enough of a deterrent; maybe they need to know they will also lose the shirt off their backs or go to prison. There are too many of these accidents (especially on 6th and 7th) in Eureka for them to be truly “accidents.” Someone was guilty of reckless driving and made this happen.
