College of the Redwoods Welcomes Sean Robertson as Associate Faculty in Fire Technology

College of the Redwoods is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Robertson as Assistant Professor in Fire Technology. This full-time, tenure-track position is based at the Eureka campus and will allow the college to pursue California State Fire Training accreditation, which will enhance the credibility and quality of its Fire Technology program and improve job placement opportunities for graduates.

Sean Robertson has served as the Fire Chief at Humboldt Bay Fire since 2018, and has an extensive career marked by progressive roles within the fire service industry, including Battalion Chief and Training Officer. His experience is complemented by a solid academic background with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Humboldt State University and several advanced certifications in fire safety and emergency management.

“I’m truly excited about joining College of the Redwoods and contributing to the Fire Technology Program,” said Robertson. “I look forward to working towards achieving State Fire Training accreditation and expanding the program to better meet the needs of our local fire service community through the Career Education Division.”

In his new role

, Robertson will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the Fire Technology curriculum, including establishing transfer and articulation agreements with colleges and universities. His expertise will also enhance the development of both credit and non-credit courses tailored to the needs of local departments and community members.

“Sean Robertson’s appointment is a significant addition to our faculty,” said CR President Dr. Keith Flamer. “His leadership will undoubtedly help our efforts towards state accreditation and will allow us to offer top-tier job opportunities for students while supporting our local fire agencies.”

During his tenure as HBF Chief he has had more people leave for other departments than at any time period in Humboldt Bay Fire’s history and probably Eureka Fire’s and Humboldt Fire District’s history.

Probably helps getting a job when your wife sits on the board.

Definitely a well needed program in our area.
