Why tf does that matter to you, everything on a log site can kill you….. Sorry for the friends and families loss, hope the person didn’t suffer.

It matters because news is exists from the desire to learn from it. No need to be crude. Just Sayin

until family is notified its probably better not to say.If it was a small.time gypo outfit ,sometimes info can point to the individual doing the job that could very difficult for a family member recognizing who it was

But not to attack a commenter for asking what happened.

The question comes off as a bit insensitive. “Tragic logging accident” seems clear enough.

The coroner will fill in the details as part of their investigation.

And who is supposed to answer? Kym with her crystal ball? The first responders who hoped to render aid but wound up recovering the body?

It’s my nephew and the gentleman is correct it does not matter exactly what happened that is rude and insensitive for you to ask my own son died July 8th and now my sister’s son has died on the 5th of August it is inappropriate for people to ask for details especially strangers the individuals that my family chooses to tell will be private and personal it is not the news media’s job to tell you the exact details they just report the incident. Learn some manners and find some compassion and empathy for others is my suggestion to you

I agree with Julie. The question was insensitive. I lost a son and many people knew him, and not once did a stranger ask me how he died. People are too damn noisy.

That’s a legitimate question. Be patient. Hopefully, someone who knows what they’re talking about will answer your question.

It is an insensitive question not considering family members Etc they do not put such personal precise information in a news media ad as it would be offensive to the family sorry that you [edit] [do] not realize or understand such things perhaps if it was your own child you would back off

So sorry for your losses. Too bad too it too often takes direct tragedy, and/or much detail as in recent student hit by a car, for others to even potentially empathize; we can do better as a community to help one another and not think of our own needs entirely oblivious of larger context.

First priority is for the family and investigations; Kym’s site has integrity in those and many other ways. As a means to learning if there are ways to be more safe, including logging companies and individuals it is understandable people are curious, as am i. While i wish there would be follow ups to articles (including hit and runs and even suicides) so in fact we might learn something; not sure the purpose of pubic announcements such as this article otherwise….i guess we are reminded logging is dangerous and perhaps helps family feel a public acknowledgement even if anonymous.

It is also sad that we feel the need to keep cutting down all the trees, maybe we should just let them be so the earth can heal.

But it’s ok for the government to just let the Forrest burn? Don’t cut the trees but let them burn so they die and become a hazard so then they have to be cut and the a horrible logging accident happens and people like you come in here saying why do we have to cut the trees??
Some peoples adult children make me wonder what rock they came out from under.
Prayers for this man’s family and the ones who witnessed this horrible accident.

Oh so inappropriate “Harmony”…not living up to your name nor doing trees or earth any favors commenting like that here…mostly seems like you are angry and spewing wherever rather than at least at this moment earnestly caring about any sort of Harmony or healing.

Logging is very dangerous. I’ve been in this industry for over 35 years and now isn’t the time to ask what happened or who was killed. It is time to pray for the family and the deceased. That’s what I’m doing. We loggers take each day as it could be our last. Prayers for this logger and the family.

Though some are curious due to motivation to try and be more safe, if possible, likely they are not loggers (though individuals trying to deal with trees or have loved ones who do don’t get the information sometimes that professionals might). True though that this isn’t the time or place though i wish more actionable preventative measures were taken for public safety and dangerous jobs.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t logging is in the top 5 with commercial fishing, roofing and underground mining? Maybe it is top of the list, I don’t know.

Ernie Gist, thank you for your comment; it was appropriate, and you are right logging is very dangerous. Some people are just uncouth and insensitive. Prayers is what the family needs. I lost a son and not once did a stranger ask me how he died. Most people just say I’m sorry and you will be in my prayers.
