Private Citizen Adds $1000 to Reward for Information Leading to Conviction of Motorcyclist Shooting at Deputy; Total Now $11,000

Press release from the Humboldt Deputy Sheriffs’ Organization:

Humboldt Deputy Sheriffs’ Organization President Jamie Barney announced today that a private citizen has stepped forward and added an additional $1000 to the reward for information on the motorcycle passenger who fired a gun at a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy last week.

“We feel so grateful anytime the public steps up and has our backs, especially right after someone shot at one of our members,” Barney said. “Like so many other crimes, we need the public’s help to solve this case. We would appreciate anyone coming forward with information or anyone else stepping up to help with the reward.”

The $1,000 private donation, combined with $4,000 from HDSO, $5000 from the National Police Association and $1,000 from the Fortuna Police Officers Association brings the total reward to $11,000.

“Our deputies have spouses, parents, children, neighbors, and friends in Humboldt County and consider it a privilege to be able to assist stranded motorists – and we are not going to let one criminal with a gun stop us from helping in the future,” said Barney. “We need help to bring this shooter to justice, so please come forward if you can help in any way to solve this crime – with information or by adding to the reward.”

The motorcycle is described as black with no license plate. The passenger of the motorcycle is described as wearing a dark helmet and a red jacket. No further descriptive information is available about the passenger, driver or motorcycle.

If you have any information, you’re asked to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Line at 707-268-2539.

Don’t they (the cops) have dash cams? Body cams? Audio recording devices?

Makes it tough to plead the fifth. According a majority of court documents involving an officer being prosecuted in court. A very high percentage malfunction or are mistakenly turned off prior to the incident. Oddly either zero or no malfunctions when officers are not being prosecuted and are using video as evidence.

Have you seen how much money they are constantly taking from us and yet still request more? Hardly an excuse.

The sheriff’s department Does Not have those luxuries!!!! Fortuna PD, Eureka Pd , the smaller departments do …
I just love how everyone is so quickly to judge law enforcement. You know you can go the academy if you think you are better at doing detective work!!!!
So if you don’t know sh*t , just keep your mouth shut ! [edit]

I can’t believe people actually care enough to put money up out of there pockets. I just can’t stop laughing at the thought of giving one hard earned buck to a cop or there crusade.

Whatever happened to all the dead people’s stuff there gang got caught stealing?

So the sheriffs have a department and an organization? Is that some kind of slush fund? Who funds the organization? I wonder what incentives there are to fund this “organization”.

Why don’t they check the cameras from the pot grow right there. If they are “legal” then aren’t they required to have security systems. Maybe that’s why the motorcycle was there……

I’m sure they were going to make a huge haul on that motorcycle. More like they pulled over to do drugs after getting off the highway for the ride home. I hope they checked the gas station cams as it seems they had plenty of gas.

Ohhhh you must be talking about X grow ???? Yeah they are very legal , totally legitimate! How do I know ? Because he is a friend of mine !! Please don’t bash a business if you don’t know any thing about them !!!! Yes he has a security system, maybe they should approach X and speak to him , he would more than likely provide any footage he might have !!! I don’t know how anyone on a motorcycle try to rip off a legal farm ? Do you think they was going to be Santa clause? And rip it off and put it in a bag and ride off ??? ☝️? please SMH

It is kind of funny how law enforcement agencies put up reward money, the money they get comes from the tax payers, so much and so fast. The fact the cop shot out his own windshield was never investigated and just shows how the good ol’boys club still runs around here.

??The injuries to his face could have been self inflicted. Maybe not by the gun shot but easily done.???

Soo he sprayed glass pieces in his own face….I think you missed your calling and should have become a detective. It might not be too late.

Have you ever fired a gun in a vehicle through a winshield. I have with 3 tours in afganistan I can tell you that getting minor abrasions to the face absolutely will happen. I am on board with the fact it was not properly investigated. Not sure why the cop did not return fire.

I saw a black motorcyle yesterday, and the day before and the day before that. In fact I see a Black Motorcyle everywhere I go, so should I report everytime I see one as the suspects bike? I am not sure if I should be reporting every black bike I see or not… omg, there goes another black bike, I saw a black street bike, a black moped, a black enduro, a black bicycle, i even saw a black truck. I am glad the description is so good , wow, there goes another black bike, it even had a white guy on it, oh there another white guys driving a black bike….. catch my drift? Why does a trained law enforcement “professional” armed with a gun and sworn under oath to uphold the law not have any training on giving a good description of just basic details like whether it was a moped, a chopper, a street bike, a 200cc or a 1200cc….. this is beyond unprofessional, it strikes many of us that the entire story is fabricated…. maybe it is…..?

And not one of them had any plates right? You’re getting a little crazy with your black bike, black bike, black bike, black bike theory. Get out and go for a walk warrior.

It’s not that difficult to pop the plate back on once back in town and the dirty deeds are done (dirt cheap).
