Cal Poly Humboldt Sends a Message to Its Community

CPH Cal Poly Humboldt Campus

Press release from Cal Poly Humboldt:

Dear Students and Colleagues,

As we all come to terms with the recent events on campus, it is important to recognize the emotional impact they have taken on us, individually and collectively. We want to acknowledge that this has been an extremely challenging week for Cal Poly Humboldt. We are hurting within our campus community and beyond, and we have much work in front of us to reset, rebuild, and heal. This will take time. We will do this together.

The unlawful actions that took place this past week stand in contrast to our values and beliefs—and can never happen again. We unequivocally support the rights of students and others to assemble peacefully, to protest, and to have their voices heard. We must also recognize the difference between free speech and unlawful activities that put others and protesters themselves at risk. This is something we simply cannot tolerate. As we call for peace, we must all practice it.

It is often the case that in extreme challenges communities come together. We have been deeply moved by the hundreds of staff and faculty who went well beyond their standard roles on campus in order to support the extensive needs of our community, and to the many organizations, state agencies, tribal governments, and law enforcement agencies who advised us and rushed to our aid in our time of great need. We are very grateful. This is who we are as a community—one that has a shared commitment and dedication to those we serve: our students.

As we get to the difficult work of reckoning with what has happened, we must also look to the future. We have already begun assessing the state of the campus and working to clean up the buildings and grounds. The campus will certainly remain closed through the end of the semester, likely much longer. Modified plans are being made for Commencement ceremonies at off-campus locations. We will continue to share updates, and more information will be available in the coming days.

We want to encourage you all to care for yourselves and others during this time—and to continue to use intellect and reason to challenge the status quo and make the world a better place. Our hope is that you are able to engage in meaningful dialogue with respect, empathy, and humanity. Lastly, let us use this opportunity to remind ourselves, our community and beyond of our shared vision at Cal Poly Humboldt: to be a campus for those who seek above all else to improve the global human condition and our relationship with the environment.

We know we will get there—together.

Sincerely,

Tom Jackson, Jr.

They should add, “We are beginning the clean up by expelling the involved students and firing the professor who intentionally participated in illegal actions to the detriment of our university community. Don’t start none, won’t be none.”

The students nationwide should instead be protesting Biden and Congress borrowing money on their backs to spend overseas, an eroding standard of living, loss of hope they’ll be able to achieve the financial security of generations before them but instead stuck forever as renters living paycheck to paycheck, homeownership and their own families out of their reach. Do these students realize Biden is borrowing an additional trillion a year on their tab just to pay interest on the $35 trillion debt already saddled on the backs of young Americans while seniors sit around comfortably awaiting their annual COLA income increase? Biden and Congress are throwing our children over the cliff!
The Biden Regime is doing that, screwing young Americans! Vote anyone but the Biden Regime ’24!

We are watching infants in the NICU be abandoned and left to starve when they arrest the doctors and nurses in the hospital. Children dangling from rooftops with no legs because they have been carpet bombed. Women being raped and then killed. Children targeted in schools and starving people gunned down. People have lost their humanity

Agree. The “involved students” need to learn that actions have consequences.

The statement started out ok, drawing a distinction between free speech and peaceful protest and criminal activity.

But who are “the hundreds of staff and faculty who went well beyond their standard roles”?

No doubt this is true of maintenance and security staff.

But the only “contribution” by faculty was to issue idiotic statements supporting the criminal occupation.

And of course their was the direct participation and arrest of one faculty member.

Unfortunately, most of the country sees “extreme challenges” as things like the severe weather the midwest is experiencing lately, or severe fire season, or severe flooding. These are things we cannot control. These ” extreme challenges” at CPH were, and should have been completely available. The far left faculty in every department created the monsters who became terrorists and took over the campus. Through indoctrination instead of teaching, they actually caused this to happen. They say it’s a community problem, and yes, the city of Arcata has the same thing going on. Just look at the stupidity of the earth flag and other unnecessary things the rabid ACC does. It’s time to stop this “progressive” BS. As far as a community coming together, I don’t think the community SHOULD come together to support anything that happened at CPH until all student and faculty participants are removed permanently.

Did Biden repeat his press secretary’s remark yesterday that he is considering (seeing which way the wind is blowing) changing US policy on immigration of Palestineans into the US.
He is considering letting in 45,000 Gazans into the US because, after all, the campus leaders need reinforcement. Will this be in time for them to register to vote in Michigan?

Let’s make it simple. Protests by the left are never peaceful and haven’t been for years. Subsequently, all protests on campuses should be banned, due to the obvious violence and crimes they foster. The campus is for educational classes. Express your 1st Amendment Rights somewhere else but stay off campuses.

What an ass!! But of course he would put out a letter like this immediately rewriting the incident where HE is the wonderful leader. But really…Some kids acted up and started a protest. Jackson could have been a real leader and gone down there to speak with them, perhaps negotiate a better spot for demonstrating, at least let them know they were being heard. NO!!! SEND IN THE RIOT POLICE!!!! Great job escalating the situation, asshole. Yes- the kids did some stupid stuff too- unnecessary damage. But Jackson was supposed to be the adult in the room. He is paid almost $$600,000 a year!! He extracts from our educational system almost $600,000 a year!! And so next he just hides out, closes down the entire campus in some form of group punishment to make it appear these 13 to 20 kids have made every place “dangerous” and so nobody can have classes. The guy is a coward. Never once addressing the kids except with threats and promises of punishment. Some “leader”! He needs to resign or get fired.
We have been deeply moved by the hundreds of staff and faculty who went well beyond their standard roles on campus in order to support the extensive needs of our community, blah blah blah”…REALLY?! The faculty and staff have voted almost unanimously NO CONFIDENCE in you, Tom Jackson! This letter is the most touchy-feely line of bullshit I’ve read in a long time and that’s saying A LOT. Resign!!! You have zero clue how to handle college kids and you are a very expensive parasite on our educational system. Go suck elsewhere ya leech!!
I’m sad to see Connie Stewart’s name signed to this letter. I knew ya better, Connie. Say it ain’t so!

The Campus Cry-Bullies

How did we get to the point that at our ‘elite’ universities, privileged students were de facto running the universities, resulting in zoom courses for the law-abiding and abbreviated if not cancelled graduation ceremonies for the majority?

Answer: the Columbia pro-Hamas cry-bullies have sized up their faculties, college administrators, and blue-state mayors. These young narcissists rightly have concluded that most privately sympathize with the pampered students—likewise, supporting the Hamas/Gaza terrorist cause, despising Israel, tolerating anti-Semites in their midst— and given worry over their titles, salaries, and careers—covertly siding with these young fascists in keffiyehs.

So, the more the rioters heard of official “deadlines” and “consequences”, the more they understood the subtext of “we don’t really mean it” and laughed their warnings off.
The protestors do not expect January 6th consequences for breaking into closed buildings at Columbia and “illegal parading”—when hundreds were jailed and sentenced to years in prison, and Ashli Babbitt was lethally shot for the misdemeanor of entering a broken window.

Instead, they brag, as did one recent Columbia agitator, that, like those who jump turnstiles on the subway, they all will “be back out in 24 hours.”

So again, the pro-Hamas crowd’s expectations rightly dovetail with the exemptions given the BLM/Antifa thugs of 2020. After four months of riot, arson, 1,500 police officers injured, 35 killed, and $2 billion in property destruction, the perps earned little if any punishments.

Blue-state local and federal officials called that violence “a summer of love”. Or as the current Vice President then cheered on the protestors, “And everyone should take note of that on both levels. That they’re not going to let up. And they should not, and we should not.”

So the students are used to officials loudly talking while carrying twigs. They do not expect to be expelled or even suspended as they vandalize, destroy, bully Jews, block their passage, scream “Death to America”, and bark that Israel and its Jewish population should be wiped out.

Foreign students who break laws also expect they will never lose their student visas and be deported. The more they cry for Jews to, “Go Back to Poland”, they more they mean, “I like it here and am never going back home to those beloved Middle East hellholes I left”.

The whiny students see their faculty as fellow prolonged adolescents, petulant whiners who went straight from graduate school to professorships to tenure, without a way stop in a taxi, on a tractor, or behind the counter.

Both student rioters and faculty then alike see the majority of quiet students who now can’t get to class, enter their dorms, or have a graduation at best as collateral damage, but more likely as “fools” who deserve the chaos they get for the price of their tuition.

Remember, most of the rioting takes place on blue-city campuses in blue states. So protestors also correctly discount the weary official boilerplate and empty rhetoric—and know they will not face the sort of police who in Georgia, Florida, or Texas actually broke up illegal demonstrations and riots, and  carried off the shrieking arrested.

Finally, the students, both American and foreign, view with ridicule and contempt the frightened “Don’t!” Biden administration. They know Joe’s threats to Putin or Iran provedempty, and likely sides with Hamas. And at home he is a timid hostage to a few thousands Muslim voters in Michigan.

They know he has overseen an epidemic of lawlessness in our cities. They know that 10 million lawbreakers with impunity crossed Biden’s destroyed southern border. They know he and Mayorkas are already salivating at the idea of importing thousands of pro-Hamas Gaza “refugees” into the borderless U.S. where they can join their brothers in arms.

So the protests will continue, if not intensify—as the students will correctly consider all college presidential deadlines merely as “negotiable”, and dismiss the law-abiding students and us the taxpayers who subsidize tax-exempt endowment incomes and underwrite $2 trillion in government student loans, as, well, chumps.

Anyone who claims they wouldn’t shoot someone at the front of a lynch mob as they smashed through a window to get them is bald-faced liar. They justify people shooting kids for knocking on the wrong door or turning around in their driveway. Maybe their problem is Ashli was white or they wanted her to succeed.

Who are the leaders of the tent camps on our campuses and the occupation of university buildings?

Finding out who led naive young students is an essential task of healing from the assault at Cal Poly.

Here is some insight.

  • The Leadership of the Campus Protests Believes in the Total Destruction of Israel by Any Means – Jonathan Chait
  • Many progressives deny that extremism characterizes the campus protests. But this view contains a significant amount of denial and wishful thinking over who is running these protests. The best way to understand the beliefs of protests is usually to read the published statements of the groups organizing them. That is especially true when the protests are well organized by an established network.
  •   In this case, the protests have been organized by Students for Justice in Palestine. And their position is totally explicit: They believe in the total destruction of Israel as a state by any means, including violence. Not every protester shares this goal, of course. But it is the goal of the people directing the protests. That is why their slogans and chants call for elimination rather than coexistence.
  •   Allies of the protesters have tried to blame the constant antisemitic harassment and atmosphere of menace emanating from their activities on a handful of outsiders. The Washington Post reported on “a Columbia student who has taken part in the pro-Palestinian protest encampments declaring that ‘Zionists don’t deserve to live.'” But this student didn’t merely take part in protests, he was a leader of them, and he negotiated with the administration on their behalf.
  •   At the University of Michigan, the leader of the main student anti-Israel group, who had been sympathetically profiled in the New York Times, wrote on social media, “Until my last breath I will utter death to every single individual who supports the Zionist state. Death and more. Death and worse.” The most violent and unhinged statements are coming not from the periphery of the protests but from their leadership. (New York Magazine)

In the high school gym…

Politicized faculty, infantilized students, and mediocre classes have combined to erode the prestige of college degrees, even at once elite colleges. A degree from Columbia no longer guarantees either maturity or preeminent knowledge but is just as likely a warning to employers of a noisy, poorly educated graduate more eager to complain to Human Resources than to enhance a company’s productivity.
