Public Comment Now Open for Draft Mental Health Services Act Annual Update
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services:
Community residents are invited to review and comment on the Humboldt County Draft Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) 2024-2025 Annual Update.
In 2004, California voters approved Proposition 63, or MHSA, which placed a 1 percent tax on personal incomes in excess of $1 million. This revenue is used to develop and support local mental health programs for children, youth, adults and older adults.
The comment period runs from now through May 23, 2024. A public hearing is scheduled for May 23, and will be facilitated by the Humboldt County Behavioral Health Board in a hybrid format. The meeting runs from 12:15 to 2:15pm. For those wanting to attend the meeting in person, the meeting will take place at the Professional Building located at 507 F St. in Eureka. Additional information on the public hearing will be available on the Behavioral Health Board’s May agenda, including the Zoom link, at humboldtgov.org/426/Behavioral-Health-Board.
The Draft MHSA 2024-2025 Annual Update is available for review here (PDF).
Feedback can be provided by emailing [email protected] or by mailing comments to DHHS Behavioral Health, attn: MHSA Comments, 720 Wood St., Eureka, CA 95501. To request a printed copy of the plan, call 707-441-3770 or toll-free 866-320-8911.

Well something needs to be re-evaluated. Cause what ever that money is going to, it doesn’t seem to be doing any good.
The mental health crisis is getting worse not better.
do they actually do any work with the mentally ill? Or just decide how to spend all the money?
Administrative costs.
