“There have been ninety-eight (98) positive cases of COVID-19 reported to Public Health since our last update on November 25th.”

 “The COVID response in Humboldt County has been robust and cohesive,” he said. “We are well positioned going into the winter with increased contact investigations staff, expanded testing, an Alternative Care Site and planning underway for a vaccine rollout in the coming months.”

“After three weeks, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) will review the region’s transmission rate and projections for hospitalizations. Experts agree that we have to take this action. Together we can flatten the curve again and save lives as we work toward a safe vaccine for all.”

“Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sarah Dukett told us that the State of California has informed Mendocino County that 975 vaccines are “supposed to be coming” to the county in the coming weeks.”

“The “Regional Stay Home Order” takes effect for at least three weeks if a region’s cumulative ICU capacity falls below 15%.”

In today’s COVID-19 press conference, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new regional stay-at-home order based on each region’s current intensive care unit hospital capacity. Governor Newsom projected the Northern California region will have less than 15% ICU availability in the coming days.

“Thirty people in the facility have tested positive, including one staff person and 29 residents.”

“Forty-four cases is obviously the highest daily report we’ve seen to date, and at this point in the pandemic, we know that hospitalizations and deaths follow weeks behind.”

“One previously reported hospitalization was determined to be unrelated to COVID-19 despite their positive test upon admission. Public Health is reporting one additional hospitalization today, so the cumulative total of county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 remains 48.”
