On January 27, 2025 at about 4:25 p.m. Eureka Police Department officers were dispatched to First and W Streets in Eureka on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located the transient male victim who had a single stab wound in the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital for his non-life-threatening injury.

Officers located and interviewed witnesses and collected video surveillance. Through the video surveillance, an EPD officer recognized the suspect and vehicle from prior police contacts. A county-wide BOLO (Be On Look Out) was issued for the vehicle and suspect. At approximately 5:33 p.m., deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle near Weott and Isaiah Bryan, age 28 from Arcata, was arrested without incident. Bryan was transported back to EPD and then to the Humboldt County Jail where he was booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The motive behind the stabbing is still under investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact EPD Detective Bailey at 707-441-4300.

The Eureka Police Department would like to thank the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and those who provided video surveillance for their assistance in this investigation.

I was promised more info soon a couple of hours ago but I did get this, “fourteen subjects were detained during the warrant service, and two were ultimately arrested.”
