In the early hours of New Years Day, a storage facility containing sports equipment belonging to the Humboldt County chapter of the Special Olympics was burglarized. While the bulk of these stolen items were recovered just a few days later, this incident highlighted an organization that depends on community support. That support consists of community involvement in all respects: awareness, attendance, and fundraising. In that regard, local musicians, business owners, and exceptional athletes will band together in the early evening of Saturday, February 8th, at Stone Junction in Garberville, CA. Community members will collaborate and contribute to a renowned organization that promotes inclusivity and recognition. Featuring music by local funk all-stars The Funnicators and the all-improvisational genre blending styles of Special Guest Family, the event will take place from 6pm to 10pm. Expect dancing, specialty cocktails, and silent raffle items. All proceeds go to the Humboldt County chapter of the Special Olympics. Come out and celebrate some truly inspirational human beings. 6pm to 10pm, 21 & over, $10 at the door.
