A single-vehicle collision involving a Ford Ranger occurred around 5:10 this evening on northbound Highway 101 near the 14th Street off-ramp in Arcata. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports, the Ford Ranger sustained moderate damage to its left side and is in the center divider following the crash. Emergency personnel reported the driver was uninjured.

A tow truck from J&M Towing in McKinleyville was dispatched to clear the vehicle. CHP units remained on-site to manage traffic until the truck arrived.

Drivers passing through the area experienced some slowdowns while the vehicle was being removed. Traffic conditions were expected to return to normal shortly after the tow truck clears the scene.

How is this incident considered to be a ‘collision’?

I will take a wild guess and say maybe he hit a metal guard rail or a cement one. Happy that he was not injured.

A collision to me means an accident or incident with another vehicle. I admit the usage is confusing, sorry to waste your time.

Slow down. This idiot was driving way too fast, hydroplaned, over corrected and almost hit me twice as he went spinning across the freeway. Glad he is uninjured.

Sounds like a case of refusal to slow down despite inclement weather and water everywhere. The party cannot stop or even slow down. Devil take the hindmost. There can be NO adjustment fir ambient conditions.

Kym,
I sure wish you would list these articles below, and not just in the streaming headlines.
I’m particularly clicking on this scrolling headline to give this feedback/request.
Often times, I will see a headline, but there is no article in the body of the newspaper…
Unless one is quick and catches and clicks on the headline, it can go unnoticed.

I’m sure you have your reasons for doing it this way.
And I thought it worth mentioning, for future consideration.

Some of us are no longer that quick on the draw and might miss articles.

If you’re talking about the featured articles on top, two things: you can use the arrows on either side to go back or forward to an article you missed; and all articles are published stationary under their heading, ie news, crime, letters to the editor, etc. However, some articles may be older and not appear on the “front page” because newer articles are in front of them (only the most recent 3 news and crime show, 2 most recent cannabis, and the latest of all the other categories appear on the “front page”.) To look at all news articles, click on the folder icon at the top of the news section. If you want to see all the crime articles, click the folder icon at the top of the crime section, etc. If you want a list of articles in chronological order, newest articles first, click on the news stream tab up above in the menu bar. I hope that helps.
