[Update: Patient Transported] Air Ambulance Requested for Rollover Vehicle Collision on Highway 36
Just before 2 p.m. today, a single report of a traffic collision on Highway 36 prompted an emergency response to the scene.
According to scanner traffic, on the afternoon of November 27, a 911 caller relayed that a sedan-type vehicle had flipped near the 19000 block of Highway 36 near Church Street, west of Swain’s Flat.
Extrication was requested as a precaution due to the report of the rollover collision, however, it was unknown at that time if occupants remained in the vehicle or if any injuries were sustained in the collision.
However, once emergency personnel arrived on scene, an air-ambulance was requested, indicating the need for expedited medical treatment. CAL FIRE Copter 914 has been dispatched to a landing zone set up at the Bridgeville School.
The CHP Traffic Incident Information page indicates that the vehicle is partially blocking the roadway. Please use caution if driving in the area.
Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.
Update 2:39 p.m.: CAL FIRE Copter 914 is at the landing zone awaiting the patient. Additionally, a Reach air ambulance is en route from Redding.
The CHP log states that the westbound lane of Highway 36 is now closed.
The log identifies the vehicle as a Chevy Corvette with major, left-front damage. A tow truck in en route to the scene.
Update 2:46 p.m.: CAL FIRE Copter 914 relayed that the crew had the patient from the rollover collision onboard the aircraft. The Reach helicopter was cancelled and returned to Redding.

36 is a Corvette enthusiasts dream, it’s even written about in their publications. So many unassuming stretches of our fabled road will sneak up on ya … prayers to the injured.
🙏
Motorcyclists are also big fans of 36 also especially since the new pavement. I also hope they are ok. There’s better things than being in the hospital on thanks giving.
We live on 36, about a quarter mile off 101, he came by our house about 20 minutes before we heard all the sirens. He was hauling butt. When we heard the sirens my husband said it was probably that corvette. He was going way to fast .
He was heading westbound on 36 not east, I know because I pulled over on Buck mountain and let him pass.
