Klamath National Forest Offers Christmas Tree Permits – ‘Lifelong Memories Await!’

This is a press release from the Klamath National Forest and Butte Valley National Grassland:

This holiday season, the Klamath National Forest invites families to continue a cherished tradition by obtaining a permit to cut their own Christmas tree from designated areas on the Forest. This unique experience allows families to connect with nature while helping to maintain forest health.

Christmas tree permits are available beginning November 13, 2024, and can be acquired in person at forest offices or at https://www.recreation.gov/tree-permits/ where visitors can find maps, helpful planning and cutting details, and popular tree-cutting areas. The forest offices in Yreka, Happy Camp, and Fort Jones will be open on weekdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., except for federal holidays. Please note that the forest office in Macdoel is not open to visitor services due to staffing shortfalls.

Additionally, anyone can purchase the permits online 24/7 at Recreation.gov. It is best to first set up a Recreation.gov account, which is required to purchase an online permit. Simply click on the “Sign Up” link in the upper right corner of the site and follow the prompts. For those with existing accounts, logging in beforehand will make the purchase process even faster. On the day of their visit, visitors need print their permits and display them on their vehicle dashboards.

Visitors should be prepared for variable weather and road conditions and ensure they are familiar with approved cutting areas. Permits are non-transferable and must be printed for display. For further details on tree cutting, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/visit/know-before-you-go/tree-cutting.

Come and celebrate Satan….I mean Santa with killing a tree and decorating it for baby Jesus. Remember, max out your credit cards and gather to fight with your families, getting drunk and being a gluttonous pig for Satan, I mean Santa, I mean Jesus. 🤪🖖
