Smoking Underground Power Vault Near Winco; Power Out to the Area

Emergency services were dispatched to an area off of Spring Street in Eureka around 11:30 a.m. this morning. The reporting party stated that smoke was coming from an underground electrical box in the area, approximately 20 feet from the building.
The first unit on scene relayed to dispatch that an underground electrical box was smoking, and power was out to Winco and other businesses in the commercial mall complex.
PG&E has been notified.

Most of Eureka was flooded between 11am and 11:45am… just a nice ‘old-fashioned’ rain. Suspect that the vault flooded. All of the curb ‘fart-outs’ flooded the streets.
Unintended consequences?
Huh??? “Most of Eureka “….. what? Not even a little bit. Its not flooding anywhere near Winco…I’m few blocks away…….. def not enough rain to cause any flooding in Eureka! What the heck!? Im confused!
Winco is open as normal.

The headline tells me all I need to know. It baffles me, though: the places people think are a good place to smoke out in, it’s just mind boggling.
