Cal Poly Humboldt Ranked 17th Among Top Public Schools in the West

Cal Poly Humboldt is among the top public schools in the West. That’s according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges, which ranks the University 17 out of 122 schools in the region.

The University also comes in at 32 out of 118 Best Regional Universities in the West.

The annual report, released this October, ranks schools according to their performance on 17 different factors including graduation and retention rates, students who receive Pell Grants, social mobility rankings, campus resources, and more. Each year, U.S. News ranks nearly 1,500 bachelor’s degree-earning institutions across the country, which they then compare to schools with similar missions, according to the publication.

Cal Poly Humboldt regularly ranks among a top public school on the annual report. This year, the University also earned recognition as a top school for veterans, ranking 18 out of 36. Overall, the University’s rankings include:

  • #32 in Regional Universities West
  • #17 in Top Public Schools in the West
  • #37 in Best Value Schools in the West
  • #94 in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs in the nation (at schools where no doctorate is offered)
  • #18 in Best Colleges for Veterans in the West
  • #31 in Top Performers on Social Mobility in the West
