Signs Along the Way

Tidal Gallery is thrilled to announce an innovative solo exhibition by renowned artist Susanna Gallisdorfer. Running from September 7th to September 30th, the exhibit will take place at the gallery, located at 339 2nd Street in Eureka. An opening reception is scheduled for September 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, offering an exclusive opportunity to meet the artist and explore her latest collection.

In this unique exhibition, Gallisdorfer will showcase a series of new works created on Tyvek, a durable, construction material known for its water resistance and versatility. Traditionally used in the building industry, Tyvek serves as an unconventional yet compelling canvas for Gallisdorfer’s art, allowing her to explore and transform its unique properties into a medium for artistic expression.

Susanna Gallisdorfer is celebrated for her intricate and deeply atmospheric pieces that delve into themes of perception, and the natural world. Her work is characterized by a distinctive painting technique, resulting in ethereal pieces rich in texture and layered with meaning. By using Tyvek as her medium, Gallisdorfer adds a new dimension to her paintings, creating artworks that are both visually striking and thought-provoking.

“I consider the art I make process art. For me that means that my work is a response to a calling and direction from the intuitive, or creative, or inner Self. In this process, my practice is to paint by listening to the Self and responding to what wants to arise. The resulting paintings each have their own voice directed from that Self.” (Susanna Gallisdorfer, Artist Statement

Gallisdorfer’s exhibit at Tidal Gallery will feature a range of works that push the boundaries of conventional materials, demonstrating her innovative approach to art-making. The use of Tyvek challenges traditional notions of art materials, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary artistic practices. Each piece invites the viewer on a journey of introspection and connection with their own Self.

The opening reception on September 7th will provide art enthusiasts and the community with the chance to engage with Susanna Gallisdorfer and gain insight into her creative process. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the new works, discuss the artist’s inspiration, and enjoy an evening of art and conversation.

Pretty cool. The lower middle makes me think of a hidden tea house off the busy early morning streets of Beijing.
