It’s amazing that many of our friends still rely, even cite, news outlets that are proven liars, propagandists for the authoritarian New World Order, as if they believe them independent journalists we knew of yesteryear. How, after so many instances of knowingly lying to us, could our friends still believe them, what could be the underlying cause? We know it’s a brain malfunction but why so many with the same affliction simultaneously, from the inoculations or is it a simply a refusal to acknowledge their beliefs were wrong in the past because that would make them appear foolish, so they foolishly continue to tell themselves the proven lies remain “their truths”, however illogical that is? These friends are, unfortunately, lost from rational society, now nothing more than a New World Order herd of dumb animals believing and doing whatever their shadowy masters tell them. Sadly 30-40% of Americans have succumbed, apparently never to recover.

Find new sources of information people, find the truth before it’s too late.

This is a fight for freedom over authoritarianism, vote Trump ’24!

That is not relevant to his statement. He said the mainstream media are unreliable and intentionally dispense false information. The subject is the mainstream media. Your options in responding are to agree that the mainstream media routinely and intentionally dispense false information, or to disagree and defend them as arbitrators of the truth.

You on the other hand are trying to change the subject. What Squirrel thinks are good sources of information is not relevant to the topic under discussion. When I read such an obvious diversion, I am forced to conclude that 1) you are fully aware of how dishonest the mainstream media is, 2) don’t care that the mainstream media is dishonest because you align with their radical leftist views and tactics, 3) feel compelled to protect the mainstream media criticism…

As squirrel said above, the mainstream media participated in the greatest political corruption scandals in American history. The alternative media such as The Daily Wire, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit etc had those stories right from the outset. Yet Kym defends the mainstream media and censors those alternatives news sources. What does that tell you?

Bud, you’re back! I take it that you aren’t offended by my policy of asking for respected sources as links anymore?

Second, you don’t get to tell me what my choices are. You aren’t my boss.

Third, I’m not trying to change the subject. I’m interested if there are sources that GS finds trustworthy.

Fourth, I have made it clear on here many times that there are multiple sources that I find trustworthy and that doesn’t mean they never make a mistake, it means that as a whole, they verify their facts, they admit if they get something wrong and do their best to get it right. That GS wouldn’t remember this never crossed my mind. Apparently, you needed a bit of a refresher. Weird…because that was what made you swear you were never coming back to my site again so I guess I find that hard to believe.

I am forced to conclude that 1) you are fully aware of how dishonest you are being now 2) don’t care that you are being dishonest because you align with the most dishonest version of radical conservatism that is (like the most radical leftists) happy to be dishonest in support of their goals. and 3) hoped that by jumping in with a nasty comment you would tickle that self-righteous joy that seems to make some commenters tick (got to watch that particular burst of smugness myself. Feeling it just a wee bit right now.)

No they do not admit when they are wrong! Ask the New York Times! The hated Breitbart has “forced” the NYT to retract by exposing the truth. They retract on page 8 of the business section in small print. It’s the NYT’s right” to do it that way! I agree with your self disclosure of smugness!

Kym Kemp

There isn’t a widely known instance where Breitbart specifically “forced” a retraction from The New York Times. However, there have been instances where Breitbart has claimed credit for pressuring mainstream media outlets, including the NYT, to correct or retract certain reports.

The NYT has a long-standing reputation for in-depth, investigative journalism and adherence to high editorial standards, which have been built over more than a century. When errors are brought to their attention, whether by outlets like Breitbart or other sources, the NYT follows a formal process to correct them, demonstrating accountability.

Breitbart, on the other hand, is known for its partisan approach and has often been criticized for promoting a specific political agenda, which can affect the framing of its reports. While it has exposed mistakes made by mainstream media, including the NYT, these incidents don’t negate the overall credibility and respect the NYT has earned within the journalistic community.

Sure. Lovely how you reworded “forced” a retraction to essentially validate what I asserted. Duh, like the NYT is going to give Breitbart credit for making them retract. As to your other “on the other hand”… what’s different from Breitbart – like the NYT is not known for being partisan or promoting a specific political agenda? If being liars and misrepresenting stories (as in retractions after caught) doesn’t negate credibility and respect in some way… what would in your mind? Oh yes, that’s right, you said “overall”! You have “burned” Breitbart often enough – even enough to “threaten”- so to speak- commenters that are posting Breitbart headlines! It’s your site. Can’t help but think you are more prejudiced and authoritarian than you are comfortable with people figuring that out. NYT makes “mistakes”! Lol mistakes not afforded to Breitbart! Really?

Kym Kemp
Admin

Mistakes and continuous poor reporting aren’t the same thing. Yes, The New York Times leans left, and the Wall Street Journal leans right, but both maintain journalistic standards that make them solid sources of information despite their biases.
Breitbart, on the other hand, consistently pushes an agenda at the expense of accuracy and balance, which is why it’s often criticized. The same goes for Wonkette on the liberal side. Both of these sites tend to prioritize sensationalism over reliable reporting. That’s not the case with outlets like NYT and WSJ, which, despite their leanings, strive for credibility.
It’s not about being authoritarian or biased; it’s about recognizing the difference between reputable journalism and outlets that consistently engage in poor practices. If Breitbart or Wonkette wants to be taken seriously, they need to do better.

Tell it to the “reputable” NYT when they are exposed by the “sensational” and “poor practices” Breitbart. Sure glad you can recognize the difference between reputable journalism and poor practices at the journalistic powerhouse Red Headed Blackbelt. Authoritarian and biased is always notable when a person comments on their own site even if it’s the “jailhouse report”. Maybe stick to reporting on fires and/or write opinion columns?

I am going to skip all your random and irrelevant deflections and stick to the subject (Squirrel saying the mainstream media are unreliable and intentionally dispense false information). You appear to be saying, in a round about way, that you think the mainstream media are ‘arbitrators of the truth.’ That is they are factual, and when they make mistakes, they quickly and professionally correct them.

Thats great. That puts you in the very special group of 7% of the population who have a great deal of trust in the media (Gallop data). I would suggest that the reason 93% of the population do not have a great deal of trust in the mainstream media is because, like Squirrel, they think they are unreliable and intentionally dispense false information. They think this because the media has continually been on the wrong side of the biggest political scandals in United States history, among other things, and are biased in the extreme. This would explain why viewership of mainstream media news (with the exception of Fox) have been declining for the last two decades. Readership of the NY Times, and papers in general have been in decline at an even greater rate. Yet you say you are happy with them, that you find them “trustworthy.” Okay, sure…

Media is a broad ranging word. It is harder than ever to separate journalism in the sense of news reporting from opinion pieces. The internet is now home to hundreds of propaganda outlets both far right and left. This promotes a lot of inductive as opposed to deductive reasoning. No matter how biased and ridiculous the proposition is there is a site to support it. Simply cut and pasting something that affirms your opinion is not a true conformation.

Yep. Journalism is more alive than ever. And they cannot stop it. Anybody can be a journalist today, and the most relevant are those not fronting for a political party, most being for the Democrats. Biased…. They forgot to read the founding documents. A cutout for the free press was provided to provide factual information so everyone can decide. Zuckerberg yesterday provided information which blew tha current scam on the people wide open. They be enraged at that guy, just like JFK, Tulsi, and Elon, Watch for them to come up with some dirty laundry on Markie Mark, he wore out his welcome in their world.
The founding papers entrust those with this right to a free press to provide fact based information free of bias while at the same time allowing for extreme partisan rhetoric. The breaking point is with those who liked the concept presented in 1984 a bit too much. And took it to heart to squash all opposing viewpoints, labeling it disinformation.
Its far past time to crush this censorious garbage once and for all. And call it out or what it is——MalInformation.

For all Americans retaining rational cognitive capacity, take just 12 minutes to listen to RFK, no added commentary, see if you too agree that we should strive for the health of our children, protection of free speech, and peace on Earth. Only 12 minutes, you don’t have to agree with him on everything but simply see it through and consider what he’s saying. To be so closed minded that you won’t listen would indicate you’re nothing but a mindless drone exclusively following direction of the wizard behind the curtain.

Interesting tactic Kamala is pursuing re debate. She wants the mics to be unmuted so trump will be free to interrupt and talk over her and show how rude and disruptive he can be. The irony is trump’s campaign advisers want him to be muted as they don’t think he can stay on topic or be truthful and not start ranting for 90 minutes.

“We will build the wall, believe me. And who is going to pay for the wall?” Trump asked in a March 2016 speech; after the audience shouted “Mexico,” Trump said, “100%, folks. One hundred – I don’t mean like…99.2%, I mean 100%.”

Fact check: Mexico never paid for it.

The bipartisan border bill that Trump did not want to pass, and Vance voted against so Biden would not get a win on the border included $650 million for the construction of new border wall sections.

The Senate amnesty bill was defeated by bipartisan vote including five Democrats. It never had the votes to pass, Trump just stated the obvious, authorizing 4 million illegal border jumpers each year and providing a pathway to citizenship isn’t border security.

Perhaps you could first understand why the most liberal Senators voted against the Amnesty bill, it certainly wasn’t because Trump told them to.

“Politics makes strange bedfellows.

Kamala Harris offers us a striking example of that.

ICYDK – Merger Blockage, Acrobat Accident, & Cheech & Chong

Kamala once bashed President Trump for his successful efforts to build hundreds of miles of new border wall, calling it a “medieval vanity project”.

On Facebook, Harris wrote “Trump’s border wall is a complete waste of taxpayer money and won’t make us any safer.”

Yet, last week at her DNC coronation in Chicago she vowed to sign the law that funds 650 million in new border wall.

This is nothing new for democrats.

Like the weather in the Northwest, if you don’t like Kamala’s plans, just wait five minutes and they’ll change.

She promised to legalize illegal immigration; now, not so much, or so she says.

Kamala promised to ban fracking. That would cost her votes in Pennsylvania so her staffers claim she’s no longer in favor but can’t say it out loud because the bunny huggers in her party will lose their minds.

She promised to ban private health insurance and replace it with “Medicare for all”.

Now? Who knows. She won’t talk to reporters, won’t hold a press conference and she’s fearful of that September 10th debate she demanded from President Trump.

If you’re marking Kamala on your ballot, you’re buying a pig in a poke.”

‘Awkward: Karine Jean-Pierre Throws a Wrench in Kamala Harris’ Attempt to Distance Herself from Biden’

By Michael SchwarzAugust 15, 2024 at
11:53am

Unintentional hilarity unfolded on Wednesday when the two least impressive people in President Joe Biden’s administration found themselves at cross-purposes.

Considering the two fools involved in the incident, one cannot tell whether the disagreement sprang from bitterness or mere stupidity.

At a White House press conference, savvy Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ reported plan to distance herself from Biden’s dreadful economic record, prompting a rebuke from Jean-Pierre that likely did not sit well with the Harris campaign.

“When did you guys learn that Vice President Harris wants to distance herself from Bidenomics?” Doocy asked.

When Jean-Pierre asked him to elaborate, Doocy cited an Axios report claiming that Harris intended a “highly choreographed” pivot away from Biden’s abysmal record, as well as from her own past statements.

“Can you blame her?” Doocy asked, as if toying with the overmatched press secretary.

At that moment, Jean-Pierre either forgot her primary gaslighting objective or revealed some bitterness toward the vice president.

“Do you know this is the Biden-Harris administration? Are you aware that this is the Biden-Harris administration, and she is indeed the vice president?” Jean-Pierre replied.

Wow. Again, either bitterness or stupidity explains that answer.

Doocy then pressed his advantage and asked if Biden would have remained the Democrats’ candidate had his economic policies worked.

Refocusing on Biden must have reminded Jean-Pierre that she exists to lie on the president’s behalf.

Thus, she immediately launched into a 90-second filibuster filled with the usual drivel about how much “this president” and “this vice president” care about the middle class and how Republicans want everyone except billionaires to suffer and die, etc.

Doozy sounded unconvinced.

“But would you admit, at least, that if Bidenomics was more popular President Biden would still be the candidate?” he asked.

If Doocy intended to trick Jean-Pierre into linking Harris with Bidenomics, it worked.

“What I will tell you is Bidenomics has been something that both the president and the vice president has worked on,” she said.

One hardly knows where to begin.

For one thing, Jean-Pierre’s final statement alone might easily double as a campaign ad for former President Donald Trump. Imagine a Trump ad featuring “Bidenomics” in large, ominous-looking print accompanied by a clip of Jean-Pierre’s comment.

Meanwhile, one could also imagine heads exploding at the Harris campaign. After all, campaign operatives have shielded their candidate from scrutiny and kept everything “choreographed.” In light of Harris’ obvious rhetorical deficiencies, they have no answer for unscripted moments like the one Jean-Pierre provided.

Furthermore, one cannot discount the possibility — perhaps even the likelihood — of animosity between the Biden and Harris camps. The president, after all, experienced a coup at the hands of his own party leaders. Harris, though less accomplished and far less impressive than even the comically inept president himself, somehow swooped in, stole the presidential nomination and has since enjoyed a propaganda blitz courtesy of the establishment media.

If Jean-Pierre feels bitterness toward Harris and regards the vice president as a phony, who could blame her?
Either way, Doocy always seems to provide subtle comic relief by trapping the flustered press secretary in her own words.

Of course, if Harris had to answer Doocy’s questions, she would fare much worse than Jean-Pierre. Small wonder the Democrats have kept their gibberish-spewing vice president under wraps.”

Anthropic publishes the ‘system prompts’ that make Claude tick

https://techcrunch.com/2024/08/26/anthropic-publishes-the-system-prompt-that-makes-claude-tick/

Generative AI models aren’t actually humanlike. They have no intelligence or personality — they’re simply statistical systems predicting the likeliest next words in a sentence. But like interns at a tyrannical workplace, they do follow instructions without complaint — including initial “system prompts” that prime the models with their basic qualities and what they should and shouldn’t do.

Every generative AI vendor, from OpenAI to Anthropic, uses system prompts to prevent (or at least try to prevent) models from behaving badly, and to steer the general tone and sentiment of the models’ replies. For instance, a prompt might tell a model it should be polite but never apologetic, or to be honest about the fact that it can’t know everything.

The prompt for Claude 3 Opus, for instance, says that Claude is to appear as if it “[is] very smart and intellectually curious,” and “enjoys hearing what humans think on an issue and engaging in discussion on a wide variety of topics.” It also instructs Claude to treat controversial topics with impartiality and objectivity, providing “careful thoughts” and “clear information” — and never to begin responses with the words “certainly” or “absolutely.”

It’s all a bit strange to this human, these system prompts, which are written like an actor in a stage play might write a character analysis sheet.
