[UPDATE 4:24 p.m.: Very Active This Afternoon] Boise Fire in Northeastern Humboldt Grows to 1,621 Acres
Yesterday, the Boise Fire remained under an inversion, which helped limit its spread. However, according to the 2024 Boise Fire Facebook page operated by fire command, as the air cleared in the afternoon, fire activity picked up slightly. Helicopters have been deployed to work on hot spots, particularly along the northwestern edge of the fire near private property. Currently, seven helicopters are assigned to assist in these firefighting efforts, focusing on containing the fire’s most active areas.
The fire is threatening not only homes but also critical cultural resources, vital watersheds, and essential wildlife habitats. The CICIMT 10 (Mack) incident management team has taken command of the firefighting efforts. We’ve gathered the most important information about the Boise Fire and organized it below for our readers.
The Plan:
The Weather:
According to Fire Command, “The weather today is anticipated to continue to trend slightly cooler, with good humidity recoveries observed overnight, although less of an inversion than predicted. A very slim chance of thunderstorms over northeastern Trinity County is forecasted for today. The fire is currently aligned with several drainages with very heavy vegetation loading. This could result in active fire behavior.”

No plan?
What do you mean “no plan.” Looks like they are doing everything possible to me.
The article skips from an empty “The Plan:” section containing nothing to “The Weather:” section…Of course they have a plan. 🙂
It was blank for me too at first but a video appeared after a minute or so when I looked back.
Thanks! Yes my browser indeed blocks Facebook videos with tracking attachments.
Might rain after 10 days or so… (extended forecast).
The weather’s not good , a bit windy .
Sounds like they hard at work trying to stop the spread of the fire. Evacuation Orders and Warnings are in place where necessary and could change at any moment. Using helicopters to drop water and retardant is very effective on the hot spots. Looks like the ground crews are working in some steep and difficult terrain. Stay safe everyone and please evacuate if you are told to go.
That retardant is really toxic to aquatic species. Usually they use water refill out of a lake
Planes and choppers drop fire retardant all the time, especially if there are no lakes near the fire. Better to kill a few species than human’s friend.
>”The fire is threatening not only homes but also critical cultural resources, vital watersheds, and essential wildlife habitats.”
Eh ? According to current USFS manual… and Indian lore… this is a natural occurrence.
Fire has already burned up most of the ‘GO road’ forests.
