Based on their recent speeches, I think I know why trump picked vance for his running mate: it’s to see who can make the most ridiculous statements in their race to the white house.

Vance does suffer from the common disease that Progressives, conspiracy theorists and other ideologues do. He leaps over facts, imagines awful scenarios and gets all hysterical over them. What he imagined was “if Roe v. Wade is overturned, which the Supreme Court later did in June 2022, and Ohio banned abortions, then there could be a scenario in which liberal billionaire philanthropist George Soros would fly “disproportionately Black women” out to California to get the medical procedure.
“If that happens, do you need some federal response to prevent it from happening? Because it’s really creepy,” Vance said.” No facts. Just imagination.
That is the most awful part of the current state of politics these days- facts are made immaterial because they can be spun any which way.

The real problem isn’t the inaccuracy of statistics, but rather the misinterpretation and miscontextualization of those statistics. True facts can be used to mislead and deceive, and this happens frequently in media and politics

Once upon a time (decades ago), Slashdot was an excellent website—back when CMDRTACO kept things on an even keel. Ever since then (in my opinion), it’s just a pale shadow of its former glory. I’m honestly surprised Slashdot-dot-org is still running.
Slashdot.org remains a most excellent “News For Nerds” website with its cutting edge comments moderation system like no other. (Anonymous posting is allowed) The onslaught of disruptive mis/dis-information spreading since former president Trump and his ilk came on the news media scene has broken many an excellent media website.
LCO has had a tough time coping. RHBB too — we all owe oodles of gratitude to Kym for her hard hard work in keeping this website alive and thriving throughout these toughest of times. Despite what you may read in the comments, Kym has remained true to keeping free speech alive and well by allowing diverse and sometimes outrageous comments to be seen and heard by everybody.
I remember and miss the early days, but am glad you find it to be of value for you.
