[UPDATE 6:54 p.m.: Road Clear] Major Injury Collision on Highway 101 South of Willits

An major injury collision occurred this evening on Highway 101 near the CDF Station, just south of Willits. A flatbed truck and a passenger vehicle collided at about 5:07 p.m. Initial reports indicate at least one person has major injuries. (However, the CHP has updated their site to read minor injuries.)

The #2 lane on the northbound side is closed and traffic is backing up.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle veer off the road, flip over, and enter the opposite lanes of traffic before coming to a stop in the bushes. The collision involved a semi-truck and a grey passenger vehicle. Multiple subjects were seen on the side of the roadway, with one individual appearing to be injured.

By 5:11 PM, emergency responders were on the scene, including units from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF). Traffic was noted to be backing up on both sides of the highway.

Please avoid the area if possible and expect delays.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 6:54 p.m.: The CHP changed the major injury report to minor injuries. The roadway is now clear and traffic is flowing freely.
