Smoke Moving Northward from the Sites Fire

Due to prevailing winds, smoke from the Sites Fire in Colusa County is blowing northward, affecting air quality in northern parts of Colusa County and beyond. The Sites Fire, which started on June 17, 2024, has burned over 15,656 acres and remains only 5% contained. Residents in these areas have reported hazy conditions and the smell of smoke.

Precautions

For those residing in areas with smoke impacts, health authorities recommend the following precautions:

  • Stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
  • Use air purifiers if available.
  • Avoid outdoor activities, especially strenuous ones.
  • Use N95 masks if you must go outside.

Yup… further south you went from 299…. the smoke increased. At mid day the top of Dubakella Mtn was covered in smoke. Hayfork also had smoke dimmed sun.

All I could think is… ‘here we go again’.

Thank you for the excellent graphic/map instantly showing who might be affected by the smoke; usually takes Googling around a lot for other maps.
