City of Arcata to Offer Free Bus Rides in June

This is a press release from the City of Arcata:

The City of Arcata Transportation Division is excited to announce that the Arcata and Mad River Transit System (A&MRTS) is offering free bus rides during the month of June.

The City encourages Arcata residents and visitors to take the bus to run errands and to explore Arcata’s neighborhoods, businesses, parks and recreational spaces. The goal of this program is to increase ridership for A&MRTS by showing how easy it is to use the transit system.

A summer month was selected for this program as historically the ridership is low in summer months because schools, including Cal Poly Humboldt, are not in session. Last year, there was an approximately 20% increase in ridership during the implementation of this program in June and July of 2023 compared to 2022. We are very excited about increasing that percentage in 2024. Funding to support this program comes from the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP).

Free bus rides in Arcata will be in effect starting Saturday, June 1 through Saturday, June 29 with A&MRTS offering transit routes that run Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer months.

For more information regarding bus routes and schedules, visit hta.org/agencies/arcata-and-mad-river/ or call (707) 822-3775.

Why how nice of them to be sharing our tax money with us. Increase ridership, bwahahaha. Another windmill person wet dream of a future defined by grey concrete buildings and borscht where everybody is the lowest common denominator. .PS, why is it everytime I have very rarely ridden the bus around here there is always several lunatics ranting and raving about something or another.. Last time it was some burnout ranting about Zionists and some other random drunk goofball demanding to be let off on the freeway. No thanks, hippeas.

Last time I rode the bus was in san francisco several years ago.

A group of Homeless people
were insulting this huge strong trans dude. The homeless guy who was leading the insulting was this super filthy dirty guy with all kinds of big open sores with clothing did not even cover his privates.

The trans person (a clean, civilized person) was starting to get upset. I just wanted to get off the bus before the fight broke out so I would not accidentally be touched by the nasty homeless leader during the fight.

This is always so frustrating for me. I’d love to take the bus, but it’s just too easy to walk or ride my bike in Arcata.
