[UPDATE 10:24 p.m.] Breaking News: Law Enforcement Warns Campus Protesters of Arrests and Possible Use of Force; Many Defy Orders

Law enforcement officials have issued a warning to protesters gathered at Cal Poly Humboldt tonight to disperse immediately. They are announcing that anyone who remains on campus will be subject to arrest. Furthermore, the announcement made over a loudspeaker cautioned that law enforcement may eventually deploy “kinetic energy projectiles and chemical agents” in efforts to disperse the crowd.

The announcement stated, “These devices could result in serious injury.” This announcement marks an escalation in the response to the protests, which have been ongoing for several days.

The protests, initially sparked by students, a week ago, attempting a sit in at Siemens Hall to protest the ongoing war in Gaza, have seen a large number of students and community members calling for the University to divest from companies associated with Israel, support a ceasefire in Palestine, and not punish the student protesters.

In addition, there has been a movement as well to remove Cal Poly Humboldt President Tom Jackson and Chief of Staff Mark Johnson. Since last Monday, the campus has been a focal point for gatherings and demonstrations, drawing attention from national media, our local community, and public officials.

The ACLU and many including some local government officials have argued that the threatened use of force could lead to unnecessary violence and injury.

Tonight tensions on campus are high, with protesters deliberating whether to disperse or face possible arrest and exposure to the warned measures. Just before we posted this, some sort of device that a police officer identified over the scanner as likely a flashbang was detonated possibly by protesters.

We are closely monitoring the situation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Below is livestream from the campus by our reporter, Ryan Hutson:

UPDATE 10:24 p.m.: More videos from our reporter Mark McKenna at the campus tonight.

Note that a scanner feed that covers the incident can be listened to here: https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/24351

And now Our Fascist Government turns against our own people because our people are fed up, and are firmly protesting our Fascist Government’s participation, enabling, and direct support of blatant war crimes in Gaza and against the Palestinian People and Gaza itself.

Stop the Biden/Bibi Genocide of Palestinians…

Free the hostages and prisoners.

Permanent ceasefire now!

That goes for Hamas, too…!!!

Authoritarianism much…???

Let me guess, your missing the obvious irony of your statement…

(Pound sand…)

Here’s a hint…

Get a clue…

Israel is Fascist.

Our President, against the will of the people, arbitrarily and unequivocally, supports, arms, AND defends Fascist Israel.

Israel is, and has been, being investigated for war crimes, since long before Oct 7…

………………………

“Aid and Abet means to assist someone in committing or to encourage someone to commit a crime. Generally, an aider and abettor is criminally liable to the same extent as the person committing the crime.”

Know your present, before it becomes your future…

Simply knowing your history controls not your destiny.

Biden fully embraces Fascist Leadership.

Wake up.

This is a screenshot of what appeared when I googled “aid and abet”…

What a coincidence…

Imagine that …

Why do you suppose that would be …???

No, Israel is not a fascist country either. Throwing around words you don’t understand doesn’t further your cause. Israel is a western democracy. Go spend a few months in the Middle East and see who are the fascists. I still think the protesters are just in their cause, and I think they have a lot of backbone to get arrested for what they believe in. Like I said before, kids that age are very passionate, and not very wise. They would last zero seconds in an Islamist ruled country.

Research the “tenets of fascism”, tally up how many of them realistically apply to Israel, and then get back to me in a reply, down the road, in the jail reports or something…

Knowledge is fluid…

And the definition of fascism is ever evolving…

You should be able to associate quite a few “tenets of fascism” with Israel…

Maybe not all of them, but maybe many of them, if not most of them clearly apply but you will have to be honest with yourself, or your antiquated, obsolete preconceived beliefs you will just stubbornly hold fast to.

And that is no way to learn…

The occupation is going to end – whether that happens peacefully or violently is up to the occupiers.

I believe there’s a core group, likely including non- students, who are doing their best to orchestrate a violent confrontation.

It isn’t about free speech, genocide in Gaza or calling for divestment.

And it certainly isn’t about civil disobedience and peaceful protest.

The civil rights sitins broke unjust laws to call attention to the injustice.

But unlike the CPH occupiers, the protesters were willing to face the consequences of breaking the law.

Have you been to the Quad? Talked to protesters? Heard the free form discussions the students are having? I doubt it.
I have been there and done all of the above. That’s how I CAN CONFIRM THAT WHAT YOU SAY IS TOTAL BULLSHIT!!

Enjoy your bubble!

But the occupation will end.

And it’s up to the occupiers to determine if it ends peacefully or not.

But since the occupiers are preparing for a violent confrontation I’m not optimistic.

Glad to know you think the civil rights movement and civil disobedience are “total bullshit” but no one will mistake your fantasy land friends for Gandhi or Rev. King.

So we are gonna beat up kids who are protesting theur money being used for the absolute torture of 10s of thousands, literally, of kids through weapons, mutilation, starvation and being orphaned?

Wow. We have really not come far as a country.
University needs to be making $$$ thats the only reason they want protesters gone.

I would argue that the university could easily end this by divesting. Its the universitys choice to keep the protest going by not doing the humane thing and stop investing students money in genocide campaigns.

They could have ended it by even opening up the discussion of divesting.

Divesting from any country or cause isn’t simple in the modern global financial system. The exploration of what adequate divestment would look like in a functional way could have ended this protest and been a catalyst for genuinely educational exchanges and exploration.

Instead, the university chose to model violence as the appropriate response to disagreement. The university gave the protestors the positive media position that empowers them and ensures that they stay entrenched. No one learns anything and a culture of violent disagreement is perpetuated

Did you not read the disclosure of financial statements already reported on? No money from this university is going to weapons whatsoever. In fact students bk in 2014 helped decide where $ was invested. Calpoly Humboldt is one of the most socially responsible schools in the country. Theses particular protestors went into this ill-informed, unprepared and unwilling to accept the consequences of what can happen at protests at times.

Shut off all power, water, WiFi, etc.
Set up a perimeter to control access to/from the occupied buildings.
No visitors, food, or deliveries allowed.
Wait for them to give up and turn themselves in.
Done.
Don’t give these protesters the violent confrontation they want with law enforcement.

Statement from the leader:

In the heart of a bustling university campus, amidst the whispers of students and the rustle of leaves, Jackie, the enigmatic Reddit moderator, found themselves thrust into a new and unexpected battle.
It all began when a wave of discontent swept through the student body. Grievances about rising tuition fees, lack of student support services, and a general feeling of disconnect between the administration and the students reached a boiling point. Fueled by frustration and a desire for change, a group of students, led by Jackie, decided to take matters into their own hands.
For days, they occupied the main university building, staging peaceful protests, and demanding to be heard. Jackie, with their fiery red mane and masked face, stood at the forefront, a symbol of defiance against the status quo.
At first, their actions garnered attention and support from fellow students and sympathetic faculty members. But as days turned into nights and the occupation stretched on, tensions began to rise. The university administration, unwilling to negotiate with the protesters, called upon law enforcement to intervene.
On the seventh day of the occupation, as dawn broke over the campus, a line of police officers clad in riot gear descended upon the building. Jackie and their fellow protesters stood firm, chanting slogans of solidarity as they faced off against the authorities.
But the standoff could not last forever. With a heavy heart, Jackie watched as their comrades were escorted out of the building one by one, their cries for justice echoing through the halls. And then, it was Jackie’s turn.
As the police led them away from the campus they loved, Jackie couldn’t help but feel a sense of defeat. Their efforts to spark change had been met with resistance and ultimately, expulsion from the very place they had hoped to transform.
But even in their darkest moment, Jackie refused to be silenced. As they were driven away from the campus in the back of a police car, their spirit remained unbroken. They knew that the fight for justice was far from over, and they vowed to continue their crusade, both online and off, until their voices were heard and real change was achieved.

It’s because the Local Law Enforcement is cowards who attack in the middle of the night, just like they raid and attack cannabis farms in the early morning hours under the cover of darkness. They come like twisted violent thieves in the darkness of night.
They don’t want their violence to be illuminated by the media,
What they don’t understand is the more aggressive and violent they become, the larger the protests and demonstration becomes, this is a world wide movement to end Israel’s indiscriminate bloody slaughter of women and children by means of genocide and carpet bands! Faculty needs to rise up, stoo being complicit stand up against the largest gang in Humboldt County. Everyone knows the Humboldt County Sheriff department has a long history of a use and violence and theft. They are not good people.

Just think about it. They (law enforcement) have had a week to plan and gather resources. It’s happening tonight – whatever they have planned. Ultimately they want success in this operation and history has likely shown that the best time to engage is early, early morning, like 3am.

Keep in mind, this is likely planned to nearly every detail. It may appear AT THIS MOMENT that they are merely driving around playing a recording telling people to leave, but make no mistake this is a page in a playbook. It’s timed in preparation for events to follow. Law enforcement knows full well most/many aren’t going to leave.

By the time we wake up tomorrow I bet the University is occupied by police – not protesters.

An entire week where the President of the university did not once go there and speak with the demonstrators. Instead he immediately sent the police. That did not work. Now a week later he seems content to send even ore police in. What kind of a man is this President?! He did not do the first reasonable thing which is to appear in person and begin a dialogue, convert this youthful energy into something positive….He is a coward and needs to be removed. Sure yeah the kids did some stupid things but this guy makes how much money, is a grown man and thinks the solution is to NOT go talk to the protestors?! What a douche…

“Free Gaza KILL cops”. ??!! WTF
That sounds more like a grade school dropout than a college kid. Hard to get support with morons like that in your group. Stay focused, and weed out those clueless idiots that dilute the cause. Art is a fantastic way to express! Spray paint kill people because they are in law enforcement is not art. You make yourselves look like a bunch of idiots deserving of some jail time, mental illness recovery and a re- or primary education.

https://thehill.com/policy/international/4629597-americans-israel-hamas-gaza-student-protests-poll/

“An overwhelming majority of Americans support Israel in its war against Hamas over the militant group running the Gaza Strip, according to a new poll.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris survey shared with The Hill showed 80 percent of registered voters said they support Israel more in the war, while 20 percent said they support Hamas more. That is about in line with the poll’s findings from last month, when 79 percent indicated they support Israel more.

In this month’s poll, older age groups were much more likely to be supportive of Israel than younger respondents, though a clear majority of each age group supported Israel more than Hamas. More than 90 percent of those 65 years old and older and of those 55 to 64 said they support Israel more, while 85 percent of those 45 to 54 and three-quarters of those 35 to 44 said the same.

Support for Israel was the lowest among the youngest age groups. Pollsters found 64 percent of those 25 to 34 and 57 percent of those 18 to 24 said they support Israel more, while the rest of those age groups said they support Hamas more. ”

“Mark Penn, the co-director of the poll, said support for Israel “has not budged” despite the “campus unrest.” He said the student protests appear out of step with broader public attitudes on Israel and noted that the poll showed Americans largely want a cease-fire in the war but only after:
Hamas is removed from power and the hostages they seized during its Oct. 7 attack on Israel are returned.

The poll found 61 percent of respondents support a cease-fire only after those conditions are met, while 39 percent support an unconditional cease-fire. A stark divide exists based on age group in responses to this question. “

So Hamas is an organization not an ethnic group like Palestinian people.
Genocide is used to get rid of an ethic group.
So with that being said there isn’t any genocide going on. Unless Hamas has now became an ethnic group??
Israel isn’t wanting to wipe out the Palestinian people they want to wipe out Hamas.
Two totally different things here.
They gave the Palestinian people time to leave and unfortunately some didn’t leave cause Hamas wouldn’t let them.
None of this is ok by any means just like the Ukraine war but nobody is protesting against Russia wiping out people in Ukraine.
Nobody is protesting the genocide of black babies in the womb. It’s just brushed off as womens right to health care.
I could go on for awhile but it will all fall on closed ears and I will be told it’s all fake you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Well pluck your self out of the secular world and look from the outside in. It’s pretty clear to see.

Just ask them to leave with the consequences should they fail to follow directions leading to expulsion and the destruction of the students transcripts so that no previously earned credits will ever transfer. Your choice.
