TCSO Tracks Down Witness to Woman Injured in Remote Trinity Pines Area

This is a press release from the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:TCSO Trinity County Sheriff Icon

On February 27, 2024 at approximately 7:15 PM, it was reported to the Trinity County Communications Center that a female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the area of Westridge Road in Trinity Pines. The female was unconscious and bleeding from the face.

Trinity County Deputies, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officers and Emergency Medical Responders were dispatched to the scene. Medical units arrived first, located the female and transported her to a medical evacuation helicopter. She was transported to an out-of-area hospital where she is currently in stable condition. She has yet to provide a statement regarding the matter.

Deputies and CHP Officers investigated the scene of the reported incident and were unable to locate physical evidence to confirm a vehicle collision had occurred.

Being that no evidence was initially observed to confirm the original report of a vehicle-related incident, the investigation was assumed by the Sheriff’s Office.

After extensive follow up investigation and other interviews, detectives with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office developed sufficient evidence to determine that the original suspicious nature of the injuries to the victim were consistent with those sustained from being struck by a motor vehicle. Additionally, detectives were able to locate and speak to a witness. The obtained statement indicated that the female had been struck by a vehicle.

As the incident occurred on Westridge Road, the California Highway Patrol, Trinity River Area, will be assuming the lead in this investigation. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide assistance as requested in the matter. Any additional information related to this case can be referred to the CHP office in Weaverville.

I think I’d figure out who was chased in two high speed pursuits on Hwy 36.
I’d guess it is the same perp.

It’s possible that they assumed someone was already on their way. It’s a thing and has been for a very, very long time. Studied it in college even. Sometimes people lack the confidence to know how to help in emergencies too. Might have been best that they remained as the witness and not the hero. I don’t know. Be kind? At least they were willing to tell the officers what they saw so they can figure this situation out…

TCSO should investigate, CHiP will not have rapport in Hayfork, but possibly they have a Hmong interpreter as a detective?
