Supernatural / superstitious beliefs are exactly what leads to things like that cult we’ve seen in the news lately. There is no evidence that reiki energy exists.

It’s basically a pyramid scheme. You are initiated and then pay money to get to each new level or “attunement.” Eventually, after you have lost enough money but retained your gullibility, you reach “master” then start charging other people that want to be initiated.

I feel badly for piling on with more negativity regarding this practice. But still, people have only so much they can spend on their health care, so it doesn’t seem like it should be legal to charge someone for a practice that cannot be demonstrated to be effective. But maybe I’m just missing something? Pretty sure that acupuncture is equally lacking any convincing double blind studies. A lot of people who I respect believe in acupuncture but when I really dug into the supporting evidence, it was pretty threadbare. Can anyone point me towards a convincing study of either practice?
