I always enjoyed seeing Dorene at the post office in Redway. I will miss bringing her jars of plum jam…

I knew Dorene for many years both at Phillipsville and Miranda.. We became friends.. She would bring cuttings of Daphne to perfume the office.. Dorene was the only person I have known to grow redwood orchids.. I would tease her occasionally by saying I had heard that her least favorite customer was moving back to town.. Sad to see that she has passed, she was a bright light in my life..

Dorene was my best friend in HS. I lived with her family through one year. Their yard in the redwoods was an amazing mix of wild and cultured. I adored the Daphne bush and for years Dorene sent me Daphne for Valentines Day. I could smell it before the box was opened.
