Likely an ‘escaped’ burn.

Just as a F.Y.I. Was up Horse Mtn today.

Snow in southern exposed areas… 5″ to10″
Snow in northern areas… 3′ to 4′.

Trinities, Siskiyous, Bully Choop… are all white.

Forecast is for rain and higher elevation snow next week.
Winter may not be over.

Burn now or it’s gonna burn later, shortage of cattle, if it ain’t feed it’s fast fuel, if you oppose grazing you can help rake the forest .

as a hunter and sportsman I oppose grazing in forests in California. They do nothing for undergrowth and put a lot of cow feces in wilderness waterways.
i have plenty of defensible space, help neighbors with there controlled burns.
mitigation thru shaded fuel breaks
and massive controlled burns is the answer. Not cows

Wildfires weren’t nearly as destructive when rangeland was dotted with sheep and cattle. Contrary to your statement they also grazed on the undergrowth.

Controlled burns can be very useful but private landowners don’t want the liability. And even CalFire is hamstrung by all the bureaucratic hoops.

Cattle make better neighbors than most people, back when wood was primary fuel year round and logs were used for everything the people rode their horses everywhere, lots more graze around. The Indians had their own ways of doing the same. The deadwood summer is having it’s effect now. Thanks dipshits.
